Latest episode ended on a good and exciting note. Tsubaki got her time with Kousei and the two other pianist that want to crush him in competition. Hopefully we get more background about them. Seeing as there's still quite a bit of episodes left and I don't see us waiting more than several episodes to get to the competition, I wonder if he's going to lose it but guess with all the preliminaries and rounds, it can take us all the way to the end. + Show Spoiler +Tsubaki has become much better lately because they just began to color her out. I think the anime set up provides a perfect base for parallel characer development but they rather chose to do it one at a time, which is a little bit disappointing.

I liked her voice and character design too (probably tied with Sachi for #1 in that department). Her story was pretty meh compared to the others I will give you that. I have seen a few images here and there that are from the other games. Seems like Sachi goes full kickass mode. I wonder if I would hate Yumiko nearly as much if Grisaia wasn't released in 11 after so much teaser trying to compare her to Gahara-san only for the plot and character to blow. She does improve in game 3 with the prequel from her perspective, but that is basically cheating by ignoring all the bad from game 1 and sweeping it under the rug. Sachi is amazing in game 3 but that's a different matter. I find I like Yumiko a lot more when she's not trying hard to be like Senjougahara. Think it was a pretty big mistake to try get a cash crab by using the popularity of Gahara-san. Maybe it's just because I have a thing for long dark hair.

GGO was fine, exciting at times and a bit boring with some episodes. I still think first arc of SAO was best though See i liked the world in ALO. I liked the addition of magic and flying, it made it more like the type of game I would play. Aincrad while not my first choice of an rpg would be something i probably wouldn't play until somebody made me then i'd fall in love with it. And I understand the "there's no death in ALO" argument but I got over it b/c Kirito still had that "can't die, can't let my friends die" mentality. So while technically they all could have died no big deal, it still had some tension in it b/c that's the last anybody wanted. World-building-wise, ALO sure adds some interesting mechanics to the game like flying and all. Story-wise, Kirito and other characters (not like there are many) stay consistent with their mentality from SAO arc. But the story progression just take a turn for shitty path, probably why so many people hate it. Like the whole trap in game/force marriage thingy, the romance is pretty weak to begin with it doesn't need some test of true love story, not to mention the sister. Other things like tentacle researcher, door with access card and whatever is just poor (you can say that the person design it is not familiar with gaming world but still a poor design). And while Kirito being "invincible" in SAO arc actually has some mechanics behind it, ALO arc just pull shit out from thin air with the command system, it's really a badly executed story
Pretty much like that ya the story turned shit so quickly after sao arc, due to sao's 'if you die in game you die irl' having some shitty developed love story was ok, skipping some leveled up boring scenes was ok too because we want to know what happens in the end, that world setting is ridiculous to begin with so we are ok to deal with all the foreceful stuffs happened /conveniences in it. It was never like a proper anime for mmorpg like LoH.
And then after they came back to reality and there is no more restrictions in doing anything, a game is literally just a game now the writer is still trying to pull the similar shit like in sao arc, of course most people would have a hard time liking that lol. It turns so weird when the writer focuses on the sister involvement like that and basically made ALO arc a big generic harem-ish melodrama anime. GGO was an acceptable side story and then this Excalibur quest is interesting, the writer somehow made a big turn from focusing on the shitty generic harem-like direction to something closer to LoH, which is good i guess.
But thats why i said im sad that AW didnt get this kind of budget and the studio worked behind it has some horrible designs in many things, basically AW anime felt strongly for aiming at younger audience when the characters in AW are mentally so much older than that. The story setting is more consistent, you get better battles out of it and the quests and back stories are interesting, girls wise again it felt like it is aiming to satisfy the fantasy of fellow otaku lol but all is within acceptable range （since they are not officially going out so the girls go tryhard on their ntr skill, which is ok to stomach that）. All in all some studio got the wrong idea of AW and didnt do a fair adaption of it i guess

Hanekawa is cat. Crab won't lose steam until you get more bat in Nise and second series. Cat is awful. Only 2 people think she's good.

I haven't read the lightnovels but apparently Mother's Rosario has a lot of feels in store. Yuuki is already contender for best girlu although she's only appeared like 5minutes. Judging from the opening Asuna'a new raidgroup seems to be the first smart one, at least they have a tank and aren't full glasscanon like the Calibre arc raidgroup.

I think my major complaint with AW is with piggy's 'traumatic' backstory; it was so lazily written and I have no idea why authors keep revisiting that entire + Show Spoiler +divorce over unwanted child -> abandonment by both parents
I mean, his trauma is the entire foundation for his + Show Spoiler +abilities in the accelarated world
I also disliked the way the author felt it necessary to completely debase the character's physical appearance to such an extreme, felt like he/she was trying to make a point but went full retard with it. social outcasts don't have to take the form of obese dwarves.
that said, I haven't read the novels, but I doubt reading it would make me feel more empathy for him seeing as the basic formula for his history can't change too much whether it be in text or animation
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka is a fun read
I also caught up with Orange. don't think there's been another series that's consistently made me sigh in frustration and smile with genuine happiness all in the same chapter, lol.

+ Show Spoiler [SAO Mother's Rosario] +It is gonna have a lot of feels, just some part are too cheesy. Another good thing is the part about Asuna's home background, a bit short but can be related to. Regarding the raid group, actually they normally have at least a tank in other raiding scenes. Calibre arc is just an odd one out, because the tank within Kirito's group is Agil, who is busy running his bar and can't join their raid, so it's not really their fault to go full glasscannon Regarding Sinon + Show Spoiler +iirc she wont feature more after this. Her arc was GGO and that is more or less it. She become another Liz, which is not really a surprise. Even Suguha doesn't feature much any more.

SAO and Log horizon are nothing alike outside of the game aspect and comparing them is dumb imo. They are completely different stories with wildly different approaches.
That said i prefer log horizon to SAO by a lot.
But yeah, don't go into log horizon expecting a SAO-esque story.

It's better in every single way and also entirely different.
SAO is MMO in name only. It's purely story about an OP MC beating up everyone and getting everything a teenager dreams of. That's why you get loli love, a dutchwife, sinon ass online, cat girls, lightsabers etc. etc. LH is more a show about people being stuck in an actual MMO and how they go about living in that world. It has real characters and story. Some characters are cliches but overall it's a lot better than SAO.

The two key things i feel made Log horizon far more enjoyable was that there is a wider cast of likable characters that are all relevant to the story(You know the whole MMO aspect which typically focuses around player interaction) and it manages to blend the whole game aspect into the story far better than SAO did.

hmm okay, i'll see if i like the story. i personally really liked SAO arc story (then again i'm a sucker for romance and the "laid back" style it was like, as well as the unique MMO-esque world and the system was very fascinating), but i'm not sure what LH offers. shall try and report back here :p i've seen some pics of the anime but i didn't really like them though hahhaha
edit: okay i see, if the plot is good then i can overcome the art style i guess, and especially since they emphasis the MMO aspect more. thanks!

i'll just point out the good parts of both shows that i noticed
SAO : has many really sick fight scenes(all those boss battles), has a strong start and the bobbies are real.
LH : the "world building" was a spectacle to watch.

If you really want to compare, may be LH is somewhat similar to SAO ARC 1 in the sense that the game world becomes their reality and they have to survive in that somehow. But after ARC 1 SAO deviate greatly from that, going more towards the possibility of full-dive technology and other random harem bullshit, whereas LH pretty much stick to its premise.
Saying one is superior to other while not being the same category is hard. But LH is somewhat better than SAO because things are consistent, like characters' reaction to their situation, how players adapt, detailed explanation of game and world mechanics, and most importantly how the game world evolves. I would say LH gives you better experience of how actually living in a gaming world is like as compare to SAO
edit: If you like SAO arc, then you would probably like LH, unless the slow pace/art style is not your taste
