MC-kun and friends live from the capital and the faction they are in are in control of those space cables that also harness power, right ? They also seem to have a weaker military power compared the other faction.

Looks like you have a lot of it. Capitol Tower, based next to the Amazon River, controls a space elevator and the distribution of energy throughout the world. And since apparently they are the only country that can do this, this makes all the other countries of the world subordinate to them. If you go against them, they can cut your energy supply, which I imagine can be distasterous (which is what they are going to do to Ameria after this). We can gather that it is a taboo to attack Capitol Tower. After all, attacking them runs the risk of damaging the only source of energy for the planet. There may be other reasons as well, because Capitol Tower is also controlled by some sort of religion, and the Pope there is head of state. Now that MC-kun, bestgirl, browngirl, and failurepiratelady are leaving Capitol Tower, we will get the chance to learn more about the rest of the world.

But what is the purpose and why did pilot girl show up on the space cable on the pilot episode ? I can safely say that pirates usually show up on space cables cause they wanted to loot or harness power too right ? but what about pilot girl ? how did she end up there in the first place ?

By pilot girl, you mean failurepiratelady, right? She was with the rest of them, but got separated in the first episode. Their actual combat objectives haven't been revealed so we can only guess as to what they are doing. All we know is that they are most likely an Ameria Independent Unit posing as Space Pirates.

Why would they just let a prisoner wander around and pilot her own mobile suit? I assumed at the end it was part of their master plan to intentionally let the prisoner go for some reason, but nope. It's also not full on war because you have people playing nice and trying not to kill each other because one side controls all the energy. So like Gundam 00 expect there is only one tower, but the world is mostly ok with it?

Based on what they said, seems like humanity almost wiped themselves out in Universal Century (or w/e it was called) so capitol tower was set up to prevent such an event from happening again and everyone expected it (so yes, ok). Now though, Capitol tower has too much control (along those lines and what pirate girl said) so you have other countries unhappy with this.

I suspect letting them escape was intentional on the old guy's part, rather than a official decision from Capitol Tower's governement.
