chitanda and the resulting romance were just vehicles for his maturation

Well, a lot of things are like that. If one can be convinced by the material up to that point to care about the characters, they'd find a half decent show there. Unfortunately Hyouka never did that for me. All hail kyoani. Though at some point author gave up on the whole sol mystery gig and just started writing everything as pure mystery. He also won most of his awards starting from that point. Go figure.

The anime...eh, kyoani does what they want to make things sell. To make that happen, they played up the two's interactions a bit more while giving empress (forgot her name) a greater role than she should have at that point. But in then end it was hard to give a fuck about a show with nothing happening. Well, a lot of things are like that. Yeah, to the best of my knowledge there are no translations. Kyoani played up character interaction a fair bit more than source and stopped right before when author changed his style. So probably intentional on their part to keep the feel of the early vols.

As ridiculous as Tatsuya is, I can ignore it for the most part and just focus on the finer things in life (girls). Mari #1. Also, I find NGNL's OP MCs more ridiculous than Tatsuya. Only thing is Tatsuya has the personality of a pubic hair and isn't interesting at all. but the brocon is the best part...

The earliest I see is July 3rd, so I'm pretty sure it has not started yet. There are still some shows still finishing next week so probably after that. Ugh as I finish more shows I find more that pique my interest. How are?: Ef: A Fairy tale of two Itazura na Kiss Gosick The Garden of Words (movie)

It starts out with him wanting to avoid her and gradually you see him change his outlook on life while spending more and more time alone with her. This happens until the end where the other members are basically irrelevant while the two of them have their fun. Romance was definitely there but it was just the stages before going from just friends to in a relationship. Exactly idk what you guys are talking about no romance. Romance doesn't need to be stated by words or statements because there was romance and it was freaking obvious in the show. It was in the state of development from friends to relationship thing. And it was done pretty well and if it was stated in the show it would look terrible. If what Ecael said is right about it was never shipped since what all the author wanted to write about was mystery then it's just a freaking tease but sure the romance was there. The palpable tension was there.

Developments between Shogo and Saki plz. I don't know why, but for some reason I tend to have more interest in the relationship between side characters than the main ones.
