Pretty good execution. Just try to get through season 1 since it's season is not that exceptional really. It's the season 2 that makes it one of the best of all time if not the best. I can assure you that. Just finish season 1 then explode with season 2. EDIT ok romance is the wrong word. Clannad is topping at the drama part. | ||

Hourou Musuko, Welcome to the NHK, Tokyo Godfathers, Tsumiki no Ie, Noein (wtf that got put in drama? okay it kind of makes sense) are all better than Clannad imo Hourou Musuko especially btw. | ||

Seen Welcome to the NHK and i agree that show was pretty good. I even had to stop watching at times since it was too heavy for me. Never seen the others but maybe IMO i liked the clannad AS better. It was + Show Spoiler + the family thing and finding purpose in life was what was hitting home at clannad AS. Also i am not pointing out the entire show. I am just pointing out clannad AS here. Since honestly clannad season 1 didn't really impress me almost dropped the show because of it. Really i found it mediocre and boring at times. I am just counting the season 2 but if we are counting all seasons sure clannad doesn't really scale that much. | ||

I actually encountered this show a lot of times been recommended to me a lot of times and tried episode 1 but couldn't finish it. I would want to know if the courting part or the flirting part dominates the show ? Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou seems pretty good except that the MC's might be boring since they have no weakness. you know. Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora sound freaking interesting i need to try this one. I am dodging sci-fi element/fantasy element being mixed on romcom/romdrama right now. I don't enjoy shows with moe character much either. I also prefer characters who aren't so smart or so popular or so rich so i don't wanna watch shows like Special A or Ouran Host Club something. And please no incestrous stuff and yaoi. Now I know Clannad AS is categorized as such, but it makes more sense to me to categorize shows based on what they do best, not elements which are present only sometimes. | ||

Maybe because minori can at least to some degree write realistic female characters while every female in every key VN is laughable at best. Comparing them because they are comparable, if we are talking about non sentimental drama there is so much better out there than Clannad. When you say "best girl", I think that automatically caters to any harem--ever. And that means no romance progression, or just a pseudo development, then they go back to the harem circle jerking (In my experience ofc) I could suggest http://myanimelist.net/anime/14289/Sukitte_Ii_na_yo.
