The bare handed fights make about as much sense as...oh, right, the recent metal gear game. I don't need to go over how trivial the anime has made all the combat up to this point, I hope. Then you make it even more of a joke with mental models engaging hand to hand combat. Please. The whole Iona not being interested in killing thing was such a joke that I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity. Certainly never stopped them up to this point. No, don't tell me that's an evolution of them being even more human. It was bad enough that we had to put up with that bit of shoddily executed theme, let's not get a self-martyring machine in the mix as well.
once they decided to go with that theme, they couldn't go back I presume. I dunno why they went with that theme. It would've been more solid had they just had Gunzou and Iona sink every ship and deliver the vibration warhead since that was what I originally presumed would happen and seemed like the show was aiming for.
Because anything more complex than FEELINGS is too complicated for those poor anime viewers to understand. Heaven forbid we add something like politics or actual reasoning. Hell, they didn't even explain why Iona was "special".

ya true. I was hoping they talked about Iona and about his dad and such :/ Well, I'm sure the manga will explain all that so I'm not worried lol
According to Kawamori, the ending of the TV show had Alto flying off into the sky (hence the common joke, "the sky won" in the TV series), because Alto loves flying more than either. Alto never "went after" anyone due to that, and he was always a very feminine guy as it is. Anyway, watch the movies if you want confirmation, because it actually does give a set in stone answer to "who won". It "ends" the triangle, so to speak. I'm not going to spoon feed you any more than this.

The don't lose your way parts were great, rest of the song was meh. Now I just want the full Nadeko OP.
After listening to more of the ost its actually quite good.
The whole rap bit feels out of place. The whole OST in general is brilliant though, especially 'Blumenkranz' sounds amazing.

But how else will you depict warships becoming more human?! (That's one sentence I never expected to write at least.)

Curse the producers for not deciding on who Alto wants to be with though! cmon, it's obvious that it's Ranka lol. Also, Ranka reviving Sheryl seemed a bit odd but I guess her song could also have an effect on the bacteria or at least only possible explanation Wish we got more background on the aliens and Grace but I think most of that is in the previous Macross animes so I gotta catch up XD
. Onwards to the rest! lol.

In knk's case it was just retarded. Though at least it was kept to deus ex.
In arpeggio's case it went well beyond the worst expectations one can reasonably make, almost impressive in how bad it was.
hmm I dunno. I mean, bad endings can be pretty bad but if it's what I expected to happen, I'm not easily saddened by it. I wasn't particularly saddened by Arpeggio's ending since it's kind of what I expected will happen. I thought it was bizzare + Show Spoiler +
that Kongo became a deathstar though lol
otherwise I think the ending is what I thought would happen. I don't have the manga background and went into the anime with no expectations. My friend also thought that the last episode(not latest one) was pretty exciting to watch even though it ventures greatly from the manga(he was reading manga last time I checked). How did you guys expect Arpeggio to end given the previous episode? I would like to know for comparison purposes ^^
Something less completely retarded than this. I already hate arpeggio combat a lot. Then they pull this shit.

ya, the running on torpedo was bizzare lol. Well, the idea was that they were becoming more humanized so I guess the whole feelings wasn't surprising from that perspective. The bare handed fights weren't that bad though. Reminded me of some of the games I've played before XD Well, + Show Spoiler +
once Kongo became a deathstar, there was no other way to finish the show without getting her on their side and it was obvious that Iona isn't interesting in killing anymore after she lost her sisters
.
These are warships. Fighting. So what do they do? They start punching each other with their mental models. It's so illogical it makes my head hurt. Even with how the previous episode panned out they could have turned it in a ending that does not suck on so many levels. + Show Spoiler +
Although deathstar made it pretty hard, but egh.
Instead they go with punching to convey feelings of love.

I plan on watching the movie soon enough for more details.

to be fair though, it was Iona's fault for engaging her in dialogue which lead to the punches and such. Kongo just wanted to blow them to oblivion lol
Fuck me I just realized that the group I was using for Monogatari S2 was like, 3 eps behind. Being able to watch 3 'new' eps is like a mini Christmas present in itself yay :>
edit: wait what the fuck is this ep 25 from one group is the same as ep 22 from the other. sdafihoifsaidf

Some groups counted the recap episodes and others didn't, iirc.

Man, so we only have 1 ep left? So sad
yep
On a sidenote, didn't get to watch the ending of moeboats until just now, Christmas and all but holy crap that was really bad... I'm actually speecheless... how is it possible to screw something up that badly. In all honesty that ending was about as bad as the Haganai-next ending... Why's Iona surfing on torpedoes...
