 The graphics were pretty good, story kept me interested even though it slowed down at times and the characters while complete opposite in some cases were well done. Music was a big plus and only added to the atmosphere. Too bad there isn't more but they accomplished what they wanted. + Show Spoiler +Curse the producers for not deciding on who Alto wants to be with though! cmon, it's obvious that it's Ranka lol. Also, Ranka reviving Sheryl seemed a bit odd but I guess her song could also have an effect on the bacteria or at least only possible explanation Wish we got more background on the aliens and Grace but I think most of that is in the previous Macross animes so I gotta catch up XDOnwards to the rest! lol. I mean, bad endings can be pretty bad but if it's what I expected to happen, I'm not easily saddened by it. I wasn't particularly saddened by Arpeggio's ending since it's kind of what I expected will happen. I thought it was bizzare + Show Spoiler + that Kongo became a deathstar though lol | ||

I guess my wording was so pisspoor that it made Ecael think I liked the ending itself. I think someone said at the beginning of the season "what's the point of watching KyoAni if everything they're doing recently is well animated gravel" or something like that. It does fit really well. Can't be mad about it if you went into the anime with that attitude | ||

I haven't watched the movie. + Show Spoiler + Seems to me like it was a tie between them as the series progressed since he wasn't taking any sides and seemed to have expressed some interest in both at different points(latest was Ranka when she went to the 33rd marine planet to sing for them and wish him a Happy Birthday). Once Ranka left to go bring her pet Ai-chan back to the Vajra, Sheryl only won at this point because she was the only one left and partly due to pity because she was dying which is why he said I'll stay with you to the end. Let's not forgot that he got pushed to seek her out as well by Michael and then Klan had to break the news to him so that he found her and told her, he'll stay with her to the end. Before the final battle happened, Sheryl realizes that Alto loves Ranka (overhears his convo with Klan) and breaks up with him before the battle telling him that she can wait to hear what he says after the battle. Whether he talks to her after and tells her that they should continue dating or that things change is up to speculation since Ranka is now back but it's a tie in my opinion. | ||

The episodes before ending gave us the former, the ending went with the latter. Just because you expected dumb shit doesn't make megane being alive a good thing toad. | ||

You can believe what you want, but you are wrong. It wasn't a tie. I can only assume that being a fanboy is making you think otherwise, blinding you. I don't even like Sheryl, and I can see it. Well, the idea was that they were becoming more humanized so I guess the whole feelings wasn't surprising from that perspective. The bare handed fights weren't that bad though. Also notice that Alto never actually ran after Sheryl. He didn't even bother trying to find her to talk and spend time with her and such(aside from finding her earring) except when Michael urged him to do so and Klan told him she was sick. Everything I posted in that spoiler (aside from the only part which had some speculation in it) is a fact from the anime which I just watched last night. It also finishes with them stating that they won't lose to each other. They could've easily had him talk to Sheryl for like a minute after credits stating that he wants to continue dating and such to close it off but they chose otherwise for obvious reasons. | ||

Then you make it even more of a joke with mental models engaging hand to hand combat. Please. The whole Iona not being interested in killing thing was such a joke that I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity. Certainly never stopped them up to this point. No, don't tell me that's an evolution of them being even more human. It was bad enough that we had to put up with that bit of shoddily executed theme, let's not get a self-martyring machine in the mix as well. | ||

I dunno why they went with that theme. It would've been more solid had they just had Gunzou and Iona sink every ship and deliver the vibration warhead since that was what I originally presumed would happen and seemed like the show was aiming for.
