Yes you can. But the question is should you? Is it the best way to enjoy something? What is wrong with you? In many cases probably you should. It depends on the anime and the personal taste. e.g. I recommended S2 of nanaho to a friend since I believe first few esp of S1 will turn him off. And it worked. Anime can be enjoyed in different ways. That reminds me of Haruhi of Fate/zero-FSN discussions and I just can't understand why people can be so picky on the order of watching. Dude, why recommend someone to just straight into A's? Are you crazy? If you really think the first few eps of season 1 will turn him off, recommend the movie (which is fantastic). Anime/manga/VN/fiction is mention to be taken in and experienced in a certain order. That is why things are made in the order they are made. I have watched -every- gundam series. I sat through fucking Destiny and AGE.
SEED is shittily written. Its trying way too hard to be 0079 for its first half, and then Kira magically appears in space because reasons and lacus gives him the freedom and aUAFHGUAFHG OH MY GOD THE STORY GETS SO DUMB

I always thought SEED has some of the better writing among the Gundam series. Proper escalation that built up to a really strong climax, progression that created the setting and built up the conflict for the viewers, and in general it was a world that made "sense" within its own rules.
So many other Gundams just devolve into some pseudo-philosophical debate, and everyone's motivations seem more like creating examples for a thesis than actual cause. Wing and 00 were some of the worst offenders of that...

Trying way too hard to be 0079? Wtf does that even mean? Kira getting into space is one of the places I'll acknowledge was poorly written. Beyond that, it just sounds like you whining. How is Lacus giving him Freedom "bad writing"? If you are going to complain about all this, I'd expect you to hate Zeta Gundam, with its atrocious script, or hate Char's Counter Attack.

All of them are well written characters. They're incredibly flawed and unlikeable, but that's how they're intended to be.

Quess is a spoiled child who listened to some hippie bitch on Earth and started adoring Newtypes and contolism. Because her father ignored her, she tried to latch onto Amuro and Char as replacement father figures, Amuro realizing he couldn't fill that role and didn't want to, and Char realizing he could use her as a tool since she had Newtype powers and he needed more pilots.
Reccoa the entire show points out she doesn't really have any strong ideals or attachments, she's just an adrenaline junkie and AEUG lets her accomplish that. She falls in love with Char, but he rejects her, so she gets caught up in Scirocco's newtype swag because he actually lets her know she's wanted and useful.

CCA Char makes total sense if you realize what a selfish and petty person is during MSG and Zeta. Kamille got mindfucked and the AEUG got crippled, so Char decides he has to do it himself because the hope he was starting to foster in the younger generation in Zeta went nowhere.

Yes, I know the 'justification' for the characters. That doesn't make their protrayal believable or well-written, though. Quess and Hathaway in CCA practically gave me brain damage with how dumb they were. And your analysis of Reccoa completely ignores all her "men and women" quotes, which is the main, primary reason for her character being trash.

Then, when Char gives his reasoning for doing what he is doing (aka when hes not giving a propaganda speach and hes really speaking his mind), he starts talking about his grudge against Amuro OVER LALAH. This is the same Char, who in Zeta, told Amuro to get over her! And now hes back in CCA, as if Zeta never happened, angry over Lalah, who engineered the entire war to get revenge against him. He wasn't mad about Kamille getting mindfucked (how was that the Federation's fault, anyway?) or the AEUG getting crippled. He never expected the AEUG to start driving people off the Earth by using Genocide to force people off. He was mad about Lalah. That was his given reason. It is terrible, irredeemable writing.

Quess and Hathaway are teenagers. Do you expect for them to act intelligent? I don't think anyone but a teenager would argue teenagers usually make terrible and impulsive decisions.
Reccoa's men and women quotes are supposed to be bullshit. She might believe it, but the whole point is she's making stupid excuses she believes in to justify her actions. Are you once again saying no one in real life does this? People complain about Tomino's characters like this because they're realistic and they don't like these people in real life so they don't want them in their animu, but let's not pretend this isn't realistic.
That speech Char makes in Zeta is before Kamille is mindfucked and before ZZ shows the Federation is corrupt as ever and is willing to let Haman drop colonies just to cull population. He speaks in Zeta about how people need to leave the Earth and let it heal, but what happens at the end of Zeta and ZZ is what drives him to think that he needs to do it forcibly. Obviously this could've been written in better, but looking at how Char develops in Zeta it's pretty reasonable.
The one thing I'll agree with you is that CCA is too heavy on MAH LALAH, but I think you're reducing it too far into just her, and at the same time the movie establishes that she spends her time regularly fucking with both Char and Amuro so with years of that I can see why they'd both get bitchy about it. That being said, saying CCA pretends Zeta never happened ignores how petty Char is still in Zeta and the repercussions of everyone in that show forcing him back into a leadership role he didn't want.
