Just feels epic. it reminds me of gurren lagann SnK is like an anime non-mecha version of Muv-Luv Alternative. Except you are less attached to the characters, and the twists (such as what this guy mentioned) are dumb. The anime isn't terrible or anything, but it isn't great either. Not counting the plot, it is objectively a production nightmare. When they get their act together they can put together some really good scenes, its just that they are too few and far inbetween. I found all routes somewhat enjoyable, liked Kosame + Komomo combo the most and Isuzu's route was in my opinion the best apart from those. Many people seem to have issues with Isuzu's character, personally I liked it and I also found most of the humor / interaction between the characters funny throughout the VN. + Show Spoiler [pretty significant spoilers] + The true route(s) after the 5 "main" heroines were sort of disappointing. I thought that the idea behind Yume's route was really good and it was pretty sad at times but it just didn't take off. Mare's route was pretty disappointing as well. Both had a lot of potential and just fell flat on their face, unlike Komomo/Kosame routes which were incredibly good throughout, except perhaps Komomo's route's very end. I'd say it's overall about 8/10. Komomo/Kosame routes would be around 9.5/10 So much about Hoshizora, but no mention of Chinami at all? Really? On September 06 2013 01:09 Nemesis wrote: + Show Spoiler + I actually rather liked Yume's route the most. Although, I would agree that Mare's route is rather lacking. It felt like a side route to Yume's route. Would've been best if she got a seperate route of her own. I liked all the routes except for Chinami. Why did they even include that route, I have no idea. Finished Higurashi ep7, Finally on the last episode/chapter. I would say that I liked the atmosphere on Higurashi more than Umineko. That is because Umineko focused more on wordplay and tricks which kind of detracted from the atmosphere. But Umineko has better story overall. Managed to figure out the culprit after ep 6. + Show Spoiler [Higurashi spoilers] + I knew that Takano was faking death ever since her death has been announced and that she died 24 hours before Watanagashi festival since ep 3 or something because it uses a similar trick that Umineko did. But I was suspecting Irie the most because of the manager being involved heavily in ep1. I thought that Takano was just an accomplice or a copycat. More like why is Chinami even a characters, lol... Atmosphere wise, yeah, Higurashi definitely does it better than Umineko. I like to say Umineko has more "highs and lows", and Higurashi is more consistent. Like for example, I don't think there is anything in Higurashi that can compare to the climax of Umineko episode 5, for example (with the possible exception of Akasaka in episode 8), but there are also no parts of Higurashi that I disliked. For some reason, I figured out the culprit of both in each of their episode 6's. + Show Spoiler + Higurashi threw me off in one of the earlier episodes, though, so I felt a bit cheated by that. There was some scene where they said they confirmed Takano's 'death' via dental records, which completely threw me off track for a long time, and made me wonder wtf was going on with dead people walking around. Maybe I should blame Umineko, since one of the tricks in the final game was to believe the narration.

I heard they planned on rerunning the show with a new production and to continue with another season when that is finished. No idea how up to date that information is though.

Hanakana fix with a side of Inoue I suppose. Season looks pretty decent, can't wait for Pokemon Gundam style although I hope that we will still have scenes were Gundams are OP as fuck and destroy armies of standard unit X or Y instead of only 1v1 fights.

Definitely agreed. Although that sentiment surprises me a bit, i thought snk was pretty much universally liked.
