I think it's a bit overblown because you can clearly tell it's the virus doing the dirty but I guess the producers got their shock value out of it. edit: There are platforms for that kind of stuff and I honestly don't think anime is one of them. Say what you like about any exposure being good exposure but the timeslot/audience is very specific and if you think it popping up on more shows is going to impact what some japanese otaku thinks about rape I'm afraid you're mistaken. I'm fairly confident it's a grab for views towards the end of the season and not some edgy awareness campaign. The show didn't start with shock value either-unless you think cheesy plot holes and school singalongs qualify. I'm not saying it isn't entertaining for those same reasons but I don't see the events of this episode as a progression of anything like what you were arguing.

To the guy who said that Sunrise didn't manage to make a decent show and is resorting to rape as shock value, shock value was something the show was doing since episode one, and they have been since upping the ladder, trying to out-do themselves. I don't think that makes Valvrave a bad show, though. Rape is indeed a very iffy subject, but I'm not ashamed of my opinion. Real rape is obviously bad and nobody isn't saying that it isn't, but it's a very difficult and mature subject to tackle, just the fact that it's being shown more often recently (even if it is for shock value) means that the medium is growing, and so I'm still happy that it's being shown. I think anime could do with a dose of reality (in terms of characters and struggles) edit: I think it's very silly that an anime studio would get into trouble for showing sex. Like, I realize why it happens because I've spent enough time reading about Japanese culture (+ anime in general) and I know just how fucked up it is sometimes, but from a westerner's perspective it's still very silly. Anime isn't just for kids, unfortunately it happens to be that the business model for anime involves making otakus spend ridiculous amounts of money for BDs and figurines etc. which has made the shows not for kids geared at them, and not the mainstream (like movies and video games).

I'm so happy that a comedy show like Valvrave makes a mockery of rape, its such a funny topic. GJ Anime, I'm proud of you. Now I get to feel like the toy commercials (featuring giant flying robots that shoot lasers at each other) that I like are mature and adult.

Is there a series or something that I was supposed to watch before this? Or is just how this series is and should just continue through it and the other seasons. Or should I go find the novels if I want to know more? Chronologically, both Nekomonogatari Black and Kizumonogatari happen before Nise. I say go read Kizu when done with Nise, then watch Neko Black, that's the same order the novels were released, I think. Honestly, anyone planning to watch the new monogatari season should read Kizu. About valvrape: I'm on Sent's side here. Personally though, the issue isn't rape itself, but how it is portrayed. And valvrave is just tossing it in there as this week's craziness.

Those two are both referenced to enough in bake that you don't really need to know either for Nise lol, since neko kuro was basically its own thing. Kizu is nice to have read ahead of time though. Kizu movie 2015~

+ Show Spoiler + So Haruto losing control means he needs attention to his erection. I always wondered what does him losing control truly mean. Does it mean the other 3 guys will lose control sooner or later too? Hmm. Well at least they achieved the shock value to this episode....besides I dont think Saki minded *that much*...she has a huge crush on Haruto in the first place

I bet you still remember how she asked "is this sex?" when Saki kissed Haruto in the cockpit
