I wonder if we will see more anime like that in the future now. You can't seriously tell me you are a hardcore fan of Valvrave with only 5 episodes of it released -_- my original post was very simple, 'I enjoyed it more when i turned my brain off for it'. Maybe the slightly confusing part is 'I cannot accept the fact that i am enjoying this poorly plotted anime so let's tell myself that this is an advertisement'. And take back your congrats, keroro opened the mind of every mech lover about 'toy commercial' since 2004. edit; word!

Btw, the vast majority of robot animes have been toy commercials since at least 1972, probably before then as well.

And then people pay to put advertisements in the commercial breaks of the original advertisement... well done people who make Mecha shows and toys.

There are plenty of 'toy commercial' anime out there that are still really good, just as there are plenty that are bad. Gundam is just one great example of a good one, while Code Geass is a good example of a bad one. Yeah, I agree. I haven't really watched many mecha shows, but I don't think just cause they want you to buy toy versions of things from the show, that the show is automatically going to be bad or have no plot or something.

Well, I say 'most of us,' but I really liked Season 1 of Code Geass. >_>

I might start on Macross when I'm done with Nadesico, are all Macross series worth watching? I'll just go by production order, starting with the oldest, but if there's anything I should/could skip (like Destiny for Gundam), I'd like to know. Valvrave is like a smorgasbord of Sunrise (+ some other) tropes, with the crazy turned up to beyond CG levels. With sexy as fuck valvraves. I don't know why you're complaining. If it's a "toy commercial" because the designs are cool, then they've done at least half their job right. As for Geass, it was a fun ride.

+ Show Spoiler + Holy shit this plot is so shit. So cliche. So corny. Throughout the episode I was thinking "where are the robots pls, show me the robots pls, who is this retard singing every time shit hits the fan, am I watching a bad version of Macross Frontier?" When the robots finally appear the episode ends. FUCK.

Macross Plus is pretty well regarded. Macross 7 is hit or miss with people (people who like it call it the "G Gundam" of Macross, while people who don't call it shit). Macross Frontier is... okay. I haven't watched Macross Zero, so can't really comment on that one. Macross 2 is considered to be "not canon" (basically doesn't fit into the canon storyline/setting that all the others do) and has a bad reputation, but its probably one of my favorites in the series.
