I understand "all seasons are the worst ever" as meaning that every season is worse than all the previous ones.
Hence, the first season was the best. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it was good though.

This spring was a pretty good season, and spring 2012 was really good. I think I remember 2007 or 2008 being good as well.
