If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.ggFor currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net |

Eh, talking heads aren't done well. Introduction of fantasy elements way too early and ignore the source's focus on overtechnology. I also feel like Maou's character got hit pretty hard. Throw this on top of other questionable choices to carry the anime with and you see an extremely dissatisfied eca.
Did you read the novels or only manga?
EDIT - Majikoi A1 pretty good, at the 4~5k they are charging at for ummm...4? sets of scenarios the production value is actually pretty good. I am actually kind of curious on the kind of sales they get for this and the eventual bundle.

Silly eca, you should've dropped on ep 2 like I did.

Has anyone watched Senyuu and what did you think of it?
Also any recommendations on animes this season? I tried Senran kagura and will be catching up on Boku wa tomodachi to watch the second season
Senran made me sick after 10 minutes, I haven't hated myself for watching anything since samurai girls.

Just the translated manga. Even with the handy explanations in the novels, there's way too much technical vocabulary for my shitty Japanese. I can follow along fairly well since I already know the gist of the conversations, but it's still slow going and would take way too much time for me to read it all. I'd really like to though.

Decent one you should try: Mondaiji Sasami-San Tamako
Could go either way: LoveLive
If you liked prior seasons: Minamike Haganai
If you like over the top (in different ways): Vividred Kotoura-San

Give it 3-4 months of doing shitty slow reading and you'll be pretty damn good in no time.
Prior to me going to study in Japan right after I completed high school, I read a lot of random Japanese novels/manga and tried translating them... very, very slowly. Within three months I knew around 1000 kanji (high school stops at like 300 pfft) and my vocab exploded. Then I realized I had learnt every slang/casual word I could and when I came to Japan... oh god my host sister had a heart attack haha. xD

Just have to force yourself to read at snail pace for a while.

I'm really liking Vividred Operations right now. Didn't really expect that:

Expect Strike Witches, get Mahou Shoujo Mazinger GaoGaiGar. I'm okay with this.

Probably going to read it tomorrow or something. Anyway, anyone not watching Bakuman should correct his sinful ways and do so immediately. Just finished Btoom as well, 7/10 would recommend if you're looking for a show to entertain yourself while not being completely shallow.

On January 20 2013 07:44 Elem wrote:It's just Nanoha x Strike Witches really. So very dumb. Like I was saying on IRC, it has very little similarity to Strike Witches, outside fanservice and magical girls, neither of which are really exclusive to Strike Witches anyway. Episode 1 is like a complete Mahou Shoujo version of Mazinger Z, its insanely similar (the grandfather's invent, the new power source, the heroes being powered by said power source, mysterious enemies attacking that city, MC rides a bike, etc etc). Episode 2 was GaoGaiGar, with EnRyu and HouRyu Symmetrically Docking into ChoRyuJin , who then beats the crap out of the enemy with a Goldion Hammer. If you don't like it, thats fine, I can see why some people wouldn't, but it honestly has very little in common with Strike Witches.
