Finished Yume Miru Kusuri. It was ok, but it wasn't really that good.
Reading through Saya no Uta now. + Show Spoiler +My first reaction to the first scene is wtf is this. So his surgery made him see the world as monster and Saya, who is apparently the real monster as a human. I thought Kara no Shoujo was pretty fucked up, but this is even worst. I can't see this ending well. Well let's see where this takes us.

Just found out Sentai licensed Penguindrum T.T. Wish it was Funi. Does anyone know if Sentai makes good subs? All i know is that they make terrible dubs from what I seen

Not a good place... it's the most messed up VN I read.

Though yeah there are some pretty depressing endings.

Bleh. I liked the first arc (or, well, boat episodes) the most of the series, rest were ok but not more. + Show Spoiler + Despite the aggressive tone, I do like her... tsundere lolis are the bane of my existence >.> as long as they aren't voiced by Kugimiya at least...
The boat ARC was REALLY really really good, IMO. I'm hoping the rest of the serie can pull off some more amazing stuff like that! I think there was one or two arcs that got... sort of close, but imo none were as good. Time to check out the Geass/Akito thing. Reducing brain functions by 60%... should be enough to enjoy it. I fucking loved CG first time I watched it, so I should be able to like this... but then I watched more anime and it wasn't very good anymore ): sort of blame TLADT for that. I guess I'm easily affected... I found the 1214156 ptph (plot twists per hour) very entertaining. CG Akito isn't actually that bad. The art is a little different from CG, we were put in media res for the plot, and it seems interesting. Especially how the next episode is suppose to have Suzaku AND CC. Just finished watching it, and I'm liking it so far. A few things were a bit meh/"oh of course that's gonna happen", but it was entertaining enough. CC in the next episode? Nice. I really like characters who are several hundred years old for some reason, heh. edit: no subs for Btoom yet? Well, I'm assuming CC since she was in the next episode preview thingy. It seems that the CG universe is about to really be expanded.

That's a solid 11-12 hours to watch. Enjoy~
12 episodes was enough of a backlog for me. Watching 4 hours of anime instead of doing homework is great.

In terms of creepiness, all Saya really has going for it is the Lovecraftian-style setting. Aside from the visuals and cgs, the story itself is pretty cutesy and bittersweet.

In terms of creepiness, all Saya really has going for it is the Lovecraftian-style setting. Aside from the visuals and cgs, the story itself is pretty cutesy and bittersweet. The shock factor was just stronger in Saya I guess. + Show Spoiler +There is also the part where the MC is the one that is insane, so you can relate to him better instead of it being usually the other way around
Edit: My thought process throughout it all: + Show Spoiler [Saya no Uta] +I'm surprised that Fuminori didn't commit suicide the moment he regained his eyesight and saw that scene. The seiyuu for Fuminori seems to be the same seiyuu as Kyousuke in Little Busters, and seiyuu for Saya I don't recognize at all. Ok the only food that he can eat seems to be raw flesh. And his first food was his friend(well used to be his friend) Oumi. Ok, Yosuke san, the neighbour seemed to have developed the same disorder as Fuminori after being attacked by a slime creature which my guess was Saya. Gaahh, He just killed his wife and daughter after seeing them as monsters. Ok fuck, he just went insane. Well I guess who wouldn't go insane seeing something like that. But nooo, he rapes the kawaiii loli monster Ok after, he finishes butchering that bastard. It seems that I'm given a choice whether he want to stay warped or return back to normal. But returning back to normal would mean that he has just murdered someone, and of course losing the loli. He is beyond salvation now, and we might as well go completely crazy, the other route will most likely lead to a bad end with him breaking down. Well I'll choose that for now and see what happens in the other choice later. He finally realizes the truth behind Saya it seems, and chooses to live his warped life now throwing away his humanity. He calls Kouji, his old friend wanting to talk to him. Now he sounds exactly like Kyousuke when he's plotting something. He asked him to take him to Ougai's Cabin. My guess would be to dispose of him. But he calls that damn doctor and tells her everything that has happened. I feel like my good end has just been ruined. Saya invited Yoh, the last of Fuminori's friend for who knows what. It seems that she wasn't killed, but being turned into something else for what use I don't know. After calling the doctor, Kouji called Yoh, and was pushed into a well by Fuminori. Ok he gets back home and find that Yoh has been turned into a pet, something similar to Saya to be used as a sex toy. I knew it, Kouji gets saved by the doctor, and is now plotting to take us down. I can feel the bad end coming. It's a good thing he calls first, before attacking. After finding the house empty, it seems that I'm given a choice whether to make him call Fuminori or the doctor. I make him call fuminori, so that I can take care of them through divide and conquer. After a grueling battle, we manage to win and conquer the world by spreading seeds everywhere. Woot, I guess I get my happy end after all I'll check the other endings tomorrow.

Random 1am thoughts while starving: one reason I felt KnS was significantly more disturbing than Saya was believability. I read anything like Saya or even Phenomeno as in the realms of pure fantasy, which leads to some level of detachment. On the other hand KnS presented itself to me as world of characters, events, scenes that can and do happen in real life, immersing me more. I think I mainly experience this difference with horror-type content.

Code Geass was over the top, as expected. The Alexanders don't make an awful lot of sense. They're similar to the ships in the Star Wars prequels in that they seem far more complex than the machines which we know will be produced later. The fighting style of Akito, combined with the music, reminded me of Samurai Champloo. That in itself isn't a bad thing, but it sure felt out of place.
Whatever. Consistency was never their strong suit.
Shinsekai Yori was rather boring. The concept of the world is kinda interesting, but I can't say I care for the execution. None of the characters are particularly likeable at the moment, and there was a distinct lack of tension throughout the episode. I really hope they don't fuck this up.

I think I mainly experience this difference with horror-type content. To add to this, a lot of the stuff Saya does you can play off as being due to her nature. Some things are just expected from an eldritch abomination. Since so much of the game takes place from Fuminori's perspective, it's easy to understand his motivations, and thus, his actions. While it doesn't necessarily excuse him, it does make him a lot more relatable than would otherwise be possible. Contrast with KnS, where the killers are markedly more crazed and alien in thought.
Also, there comes a point when gore is just gore. Personally, the most chilling part of murders in fiction is not the method, but the mindset of the killer. Heck, for me, the worst murder in KnS + Show Spoiler [KnS] +wasn't even a murder. The scene where Kazuna is delivered to the detective in a crate with her leg missing isn't particularly gruesome compared to the other murders presented in the story. It's not even bloody! But the fact that her womb was removed, and the implications of this, was enough to make me feel a little ill. That she was alive after all this actually made it worse, since she can never bear children again.

Horizon 09:
Horizon is just epic fight after epic fight after epic fight, holy shit man. Sunrise seriously pulled out the stops with this. I love how they represent barriers or acceleration with holo projections, such a different unique take on how fights look.
When Nate-o was gonna get her revenge match I had goosebumps all over. gg no re

Yeah Saya no Uta was the most f'd up VN I've read. However, I didn't think it was all that great, I think it's a bit overrated (Definitely not a 10 to me and definitely not "the best VN ever" or anything of the sort, Muv-Luv Alternative has that secured easily).
I finally got around to reading Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, no spoilers please but I haven't seen the anime and it's really surprising how the first chapter that took me like 10 hours to finish somehow was fit into 4 anime episodes... How are they supposed to be able to convey the suspense feel? Hmhm ... Either way, after 2 and a half chapters or so I'm utterly confused and don't understand anything, working as intended I'm guessing ...
Oh right and Kajiura Yuki is amazing, if all animes had music made by her the world would be a better place. (And if Studio Deen stopped ruining everything)
