The first half of the show is great, and is almost deserving of all the praise/hype it gets. Second half is just... blargh. Not good at all. Light vs L is what makes the show, remove L and it's not good anymore, simple as that.
I did have a funny conversation with a friend concerning whether Light is evil or not, lol. Appearantly killing everyone and anyone is totally fine if it's to not get caught. Rewatching the series just makes me view Light more and more as the villain he is.
Death Note doesn't get that much hype iirc. I mean everyone knows what it is, but when you wonder whether a series will have a Death Note ending everybody knows exactly what you mean.
Must be just me who is surrounded by people who give DN a 9 or 10 then. Then again, those are the people who have watched like 2-3 anime in total.
Ahh School Days brings back memories, I still remember when the finale was delayed due to a violent incident that coincidentally occured on the same week as the happy troll boat ending. Not going to lie though, at the time, after the ending, I hated School Days. It deterred me from watching any anime for a good month. Though afterwards looking back I admit the series was truely a masterpiece and although people never believed me, I always gave the series a serious recommendation.
Current seasons shows/ratings are way to subjective to generalise. My 'favourite season' (if I had to choose) would probably be during the airing of Code Geass waiting on gg irc as it aired waiting for the subs and the slight chance for a QC leak and/or the first xdcc download links available at like 4am sunday morning.
Had a lot of hype purely based on the start, which I do also agree that it deserves however I am pretty sure most people either dropped it completely or was extremely unsatisfied at the ending.
I've found the longer you keep following anime from season to season, the greater varity of genres you can stand widens, a few years back I could never see myself enjoying 'Type B' and/or moe series but boy was I wrong. Meccha is the only exception in my case.
To some extent my standards of; to watch or not have continously been falling, season to season. At least it feels that way.

Well time to see why so many people in here hate this.
I think I'll do so too. I started it before but remembered that I had yet to finish F/SN, but now that I've finished F/SN I'll give it another go. There was a few characters that interested me, after all (after about 15 minutes of reading lol). I think it's something about the ending that people hate.
Though I'll wait a little, while reading F/SN I had a "no watching new anime series" policy to make me actually read it, for some reason I avoid the visual novel format a bit. Heh. So now I need a bit of fresh anime in between them visual novels.
Watched first Mardock Scramble movie. I find it pretty good, but only 2 movies out of 3 are out and the first one ended in massive cliffhanger style - not looking forward to the wait between finishing the second one and the wait for the third...
For some reason I really like Oeufcoque, but damn, all these egg names, does the writer love eggs or what?
Edit: As for Kokoro Connect being weaker the last few episodes, I agree. At the same time Jinsui was really strong with the latest episode, currently my no. 1 this season. Muv Luv did get a lot better this week too, if they continue like this it could probably climb up to third, but I doubt it, if we get another ep 3-8 part...

How many years until ufotable animates it or DEEN makes a sub par adaption?
Now you know why it's considered canon... because none of the other routes make sense when you take F/Z and H/A and such into account! wolo!
Type-Moon said they're looking into doing an HF anime but they wouldn't do it until some number of years pass after UBW/FZ. Spacing it out, milking it, whatever you wanna call it, but a good business decision.

Ouefcoque is wonderful.

Found this recently, and enjoyed it, decided to share. Basically, its a collection of scenes animated by Masami Obari. Personally my favorite Animation Director, the guy has a tendency to just shove the "rule of cool" down your throat, in practically all of his anime. And hes been involved in alot of stuff, even things I didn't know he was involved with:

Also DN anime was better than the manga because 1. the soundtrack and 2. the second part was half of the manga whereas it was only 1/3 of the anime.
You know what? I really enjoyed the live action DN movies. I thought they'd be really bad, but it did a great job condensing the story into the better parts and characterizing the main players pretty close to how they are in the manga. Plus, CGI Ryuk was amazing.

I have only seen a few anime compared to the rest of tladt but it is still one of the best I have seen, atleast L vs Light. Just feels to me when people say DN is "hyped" they are just trying to be hipster

Or it could just be that to those people it is hyped? I think being hipster in anime is kind of hard to do...I think...?

What do you mean, you don't think its hyped? Death Note is popular as hell. I won't really comment about the actual quality of Death Note, since everything I would want to say about it has been said already, but the anime is popular enough to be #1 on MAL. And then when you compare that level of popularity to how good people think it is (especially in light of the last half of the anime, which you yourself seem to acknowledge as a step down compared to the first half), people start calling it "over hyped". Even if you disagree, its easy to see why they call it that.
