I need at least 3-4 anime weekly to fill the time. F/Z is great, but when you only 30 min to look forward to every week, just not enough. When you have 1 show to watch everyday, it's like heaven.
When it comes to the "1 show everyday", this season sort of fails for me. It's friday, saturday, sunday, then the rest of the week, nothing. Or, well, whatever day Horizon ends up being translated.
And I agree with only needing one great anime to "make" a season, a lot of decent anime is nice too but I regard spring as better than this one because of F/Z second season. Though SAO might get terribly epic in its main story, I don't know.

If we go by amount of discussion, I think School Days is the best season we've had so far.

The best show for me this season by Binbougami, with Moyashimon being a sorta-distant-second. All the LN shows are decent on their own, but by being inferior adaptations they can't be placed too high.

That makes 2 at least, "we". There. Whoa. Real impressive. From "quite a few" to two. As I said "from discussion after 2-3 weeks into the season". The least you can do is take the effort to look back in the thread if you really want to know. I would, but the problem is that we're watching anime, where people's opinions on a show can differ from light and day. For example, [b]I can say that it's quite silly for you to use Tari Tari as one of your anime this season that justifies it being the best in over two year, and you'd come back and be like "No Tari Tari good, PA Works \o/"[b] In other words, it's pointless for me to really say any of these things, so I might as well just be sarcastic and comment on how ridiculous a statement like "best season we've had in two years" sounds, especially when only a few anime this season (and some of the more popular/better ones you haven't been following either) I'd bother giving a decent score to. Besides, I'd argue that my like of a season only needs to have one anime at times to really make a season. There's so much anime that comes out that there's bound to be garbage anyway, so it's not like quantity automatically makes everything better. For instance, Fate/Zero came out Winter 2011 (I think...?) and that made the season for me regardless of whatever other shows came out.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH LIKING TARI TARI/PA WORKS?
But complaining about how terrible seasons are is stupid. In my short time here, I've noticed the following sequence:
"<upcoming season/current season> is (going to be) the worst/best season ever!" "No it's not, lol. People say that for every season." "Yes, it is. And I didn't say that for <insert previous season>." "Pretty sure you did."
Talking about how good or bad seasons are is foolish, especially because most people who claim seasons to be good or bad never even define what makes a season good or bad - and even less often do people actually agree on whatever definitions people pull out of nowhere, resulting in "arguments" that are nearly entirely unrelated to the other "arguments" presented.
But seriously, Tari Tari anime of the year -> this season is good enough for me.

The current season is the best season we had for over two years. There were discussions about greater # of shows being followed and enjoyable this season than quite a while. Original poster agree with this sentiment by stating his enjoyment of this season. It's only natural the follow up season would not be as good considering current season is more of a anomaly than a recurring theme. o_O There were lots of decent seasons prior to this one, and this season isn't particularly entertaining. I'm currently following 9 Horizon Moyashimon Binbougami Jinrui wa Suitai Campione! Tari Tari Nobuna Hagure Yuusha Dog Days At near the end, which is same as Spring (Kore wa Zombie, Jormungand) Winter (Nisemonogatari, Uchuu Kaizoku) 11 Fall (F/Z, LastExile - wish it never existed, Haganai, Ben-To, Hozizon) combined Whoa. You're following more shows than you did in other seasons. Clearly this one must be better than all the other ones.
tbh I like this season more than a few other ones aswell, but thats mostly because I just needed a break from turn of your brain stuff, for a few seasons and this time I havent dropped alot of shit I normally would. It literally has nothing to do with an increase in quality of the shows. Or maybe I just really like Jinsui, I dont know.

It's only natural the follow up season would not be as good considering current season is more of a anomaly than a recurring theme. So I'm actually legitimately asking what do you mean by "next season looks bleak"? You're admitting right here that if this season is so good, then naturally next season will not be as good even if it's an average season which is logical. However, your original statement implies that next season will be worse than average. You say you'll watch Jormungand and Hayate; isn't that already 2 which is already "average" for you? You even say you might reach 4 which would only be half as good as this season yet twice as good as previous seasons. That doesn't sound bleak to me.
Also, most people consider Moyashimon to be disappointing and many consider Kokoro Connect to be #1 or #2 of the season. A lot of people follow SAO and while LNs are pretty lol, at least animation isn't bad and Kajiura music so yay. I consider Dog Days to be crap even with the double Nana (in fact, even with Fearless Hero which is pretty bland itself. reusing Scarlet Knight would've made it so much better already), which should mean a lot coming from me lol. I'm not saying this to hate on your opinion but only to point out that opinions vary a lot, even among what people in this thread consider the best. I don't care if you consider this the best season in 2 years or whatever, but please don't argue about seasonal quality when there's already so much dispute over individual shows @_@ That goes for you too znf; you're gonna be like "sorry kaze was too busy arguing on the interwebz to visit you."
Ironically though, next season has the greatest potential for disappointment in some time since Hayate and LB are so widely anticipated.

Yo, not my fault Kaze.

Probably sometime in between everyone putting your taste at the bottom of the hierarchy and Elem calling you out
Huh just started reading Baki Son of Ogre again. Dunno why I ever started it since I don't like the art and usually only like to read mangas with the "new style" of art...but for some inexplicable reason it was actually pretty interesting. Starting from the January releases this year--the update before that was apparently September of 2009...dayum.

Does it count as anticipation if we're expecting it to be horrible? I don't know how anyone who read Little Busters can be looking forward to the adaptation. The story itself is basically impossible to storyboard. More worrisome is the fact that they showed CGs from all the godawful routes in the PV. Of all the shows that JC Staff decided not to change random shit for, it had to be this one.

+ Show Spoiler [Hayate no Gotoku Chapter 375] +Hina is so adorable when she's upset and tsundere. D'awwwww~ But Yukiji puts her foot in her mouth as always. You pretty much see the punchline coming. Still, nice to have some side character development. And she seems to be giving up alcohol too.
Where's Aika. It's been too long since she last appeared zzz

Trolling? One of the worst anime i have seen in my whole life.
+ Show Spoiler + Makoto is a just a big plain jerk going around fucking any girl without giving a shit.Sekai is just mentally retarded and craves for Makoto after she was supposed to help Makoto and Koto get together.Kotonoha is just plain........................................ From a romantic standpoint, this is like one of the worst romance-centric anime i have seen .The ending(Kotonoha just chopped off Sekai head and literally opened her up) reminds me of Happy Tree Friends.Man i tried to remove that anime from my brain but can't seem to.

Hayate I'm not so worried about because it's a comedy. Heck, season one was half filler, and it was still fine. In this case, we'll just have to brush away the tears and trudge on.
