I sort of agree with this, Fate route is zzzz but Saber as a character isn't that bad. It's just that Rin is better :o can't really comment on Sakura since I haven't gotten far enough in Heaven's Feel. I don't like her very much so far though.

She is a crappy king, but that's what make her interesting. Like how can someone fail so spectacularly at being the absolute power. In that sense she is better suited for her life with Shirou than king. If she was a kick arse king like Iskander or Gilgamesh she'd just faceroll both 4th and 5th holy grail war.

>Develop 2. to cause to grow or expand: to develop one's muscles. 3. to elaborate or expand in detail: to develop a theory. 4. to bring into being or activity; generate; evolve. I must be looking up the wrong dictionary. I can't figure out where develop equates to be the same thing across two entire Grail Wars. Including # of combat victories in canon.

In that sense she is better suited for her life with Shirou than king. If she was a kick arse king like Iskander or Gilgamesh she'd just faceroll both 4th and 5th holy grail war. Well, as you can see, Tsukihime was basically out of running and Iskander placed ridiculously high. Rakkyo and Fate have the benefit of greater exposure lately, but it also begs the question of how people can vote Iskander Gil then vote Saber. Like, interesting is different from your waifu. Her failures are what characterizes her, those hardly get addressed across F/Z and F/SN, yet she is high on the waifu list. Does she get badass moments? Hardly, her role in F/Z is to suffer Lancelot and learn nothing from the entire affair for F/SN. The role of being awesome went to Rider, Gil and Welver. Seriously this is just the standard display of t-m main heroines winning their individual popularity polls (Arc, Shiki and Saber dominated their individual rankings in previous polls), then you throw them together and the thing that has the most exposure recently wins. Saber happens to be the one, all reasoning and comprehension be fucking damned. Nasu's comments about Kohaku were along the lines of how people probably forget what a scary bitch she was in Tsukihime and Kagetsu Tohya and that it would be a shame if people voted for her purely out of Melty Blood persona.

Shiki (the non sucky one) developed in accepting herself and Kokutou, which is pretty much on par with Saber in Fate route. Though Shiki is a more kickarse character to begin with, The other Shiki just grew into a perverted monster >.< Aozaki sisters I don't think grew at all, they just keep extending on their projected path without regard to others. And Gilgamesh.... he just want whatever he want and then want some other stuff later. Same character all across pretty much. Ciel has some real growth but obviously no one ever care about her.

No I hate people who have so much pride that they force their ideals on other people in a zealous religious fashion, and always talk from a point of righteousness because they have so much conviction that they are right. Ironically it is this character whose convictions in her ideals are so great that she wishes to renounce them. Wait, what? And Gilgamesh.... he just want whatever he want and then want some other stuff later. Same character all across pretty much. Ciel has some real growth but obviously no one ever care about her. Hisui and Kohaku across time go all over the spectrum based on events that occur. They only "release what they were bottling up" in their respective routes. That's still more than Saber, especially canonical who just basically dies. Shiki's acceptance is not really of herself, as she has always accepted who she is. It's more her acceptance of what she's lost, and also of her original sin (slaying other personalities), which also originates in Shiki0, which is the 「 」 itself. A major point of the book is that there're clear boundaries between all the personalities, yet there's difficulty (even by herself, she admits) in really delineating between any of the personalities. It takes essentially finally at the end Kokutou Mikiya to really "tell." The other Shiki goes from (if we're talking strictly of the Tsukihime timeframe) a person who's accepted his place as a regular guy to a killer. Obviously the scope of his personality change differs from route to route (hence Tsukihime's nasty mystery of canon) but general depictions of "later Shiki" range from cold-blooded mass-murderer to a protective killer. He basically loses all human values over the course of the story and develops monster values. Quite interesting! Aozaki sisters are EXTREMELY interesting, given that Touko goes from yuutousei ojousama -> bloodthirsty, enmity-filled bitch -> enmity-filled haughty but curiosity is first bitch -> this world sucks. Aoko goes from rockband groupy -> angry yuutousei -> ?? -> what the hell happened to her between MahoYo and Tsukihime/Melty Blood lol. Alice is ridiculously cute because she is my lovely angel, but her "evolution" is pretty obvious (one of the most obviously changing Type-Moon chars ever?) Same goes for Soujuurou.
