0080 does take place at around the same time as 08th MS Team and they both have '08' in their names :p Technically those are Hizacks, no Zakus
But yeah, the Titans must have wasted a ton of money designing so many different types of Mobile Suits. Its like they didn't learn from Zeon's mistakes in the One Year War. Also, I think you will be able to forgive the transforming mobile suits once the Zeta shows up, since IMO the Zeta and the Quebeley are the best mech designs in the show.
Also, are you planning on watching Double Zeta as well? You probably should if you want any type of closure to the show, since ZZ episode 1 could easily be Zeta Gundam episode 51 (its a direct sequel).
They both do have '08' in their names, but other than that, I dunno. I mean, 08th MS Team is closer to original Gundam than it is to 0080, but technically you are right since they are about the same war. I would have more expected someone to confuse Gundam 0080 with Gundam 0083, rather than 08th MS Team heh

whatever they're modeled after Zakus so they are Zakus! The Zeta already showed up, but that was after the 20 other transforming mechas which sucked -______-
I plan on watching most/all of UC

Planning on watching Turn A Gundam after all of them? Turn A is pretty good, even if it is different from all the other gundams. I know technically Turn A isn't considered a UC Gundam, but it could almost be considered one, due to the back-story of that show.
I've been watching through all of the UC Gundam shows as well, to get me up to speed for Gundam Unicorn. I gotta say, watching Zeta, ZZ, and Char's Counterattack let me appreciate the plot, and specifically some of the characters in Unicorn alot more. I'll probably watch Gundam F91 next, even though its not considered good, and then Victory Gundam, even though it was made by depression-Tomino.

you didn't like Hyaku Shiki? bling bling baby. It is my second favorite suit that Char pilots, after the red commander type Zaku.
Victory Gundam is like... the epitome of all-kill Tomino. I'm glad he took a long break and came back a happier man to produce Turn A. The alternate ending to Zeta is also nice.

I started Umineko. The beginning was a bit slow and frankly a bit cheesy, but most VNs are like that in my experience. At least it is not god awful like the beginning of Fate/Stay Night.
Also, the intro seems a bit too happy for such a hectic story.
|
Umineko has quite a few cheesy moments. :/
And of course the beginning is happy! These things always start happy before+ Show Spoiler +EVERYBODY DIES kihihihihi

Heh, how long does it take + Show Spoiler +before everyone starts killing each other?

So approximately 5-10 hours before anything happens? Lame....

On March 01 2010 03:12 Mori600 wrote:Heh, how long does it take + Show Spoiler +before everyone starts killing each other? + Show Spoiler +Depends on the chapter. Chapter 1 takes the longest. Generally, the farther along you are the faster it starts.

Less than 5 hours, I got to a place for a vacation of sorts at around 2, shit started dying before dinner, which tends to be around 6~6:30. Can't factor in reading speed, but I think I read relatively slow in Japanese.
Also, how is it cheesy? Slow I can understand, but how is just introducing everyone with every random detail cheesy?
Chapter 4 is kind of the exception that proves Triangle's rule, when we just got stuffed with more Angel backstory than we can stomach without something else.
|
Yeah, ep. 3 was fastest of the 1st 4.
+ Show Spoiler +Am I the only one who got really annoyed by Ange? She was such an obnoxious character.
And I found like all of chapter 4 to be cheesy. Power of love etc etc.
Plus it turned into a freaking shounen at times, which was just bizarre.

Anyone see that episode 14 is out for Bakemonogatari? Or am I late on this? -_-

Some random groups have subbed it, though I have no idea how their quality works out. I'll probably just wait for my bd to arrive.
Triangle, + Show Spoiler [Umineko game] +I wasn't particularly annoyed by her as I was by the amount of time she filled, either that has some huge significance or Ryukishi just liked her.
You can say that chapter 4 was cheesy, to which I'll say that Gurren Lagann was cheesy as well. It was definitely cheesy, but in an epic way, especially considering how Beato just set us all up for a little laugh as she had them all killed in one fell swoop. Oh, if you think the power of Love was overspammed in ep 4, wait till ep 6. 6 does have one of the most epic final scenes though...now I want to read that scene again

+ Show Spoiler [Umineko up to chapter 4] +Ange reminded me a lot of Yuka in Elfen lied -- the character with a tragic past, except that she bitches about it constantly and everyone else's lives are way more tragic. She kept going on and on about how much her school life sucked, and I kept feeling as if I'd be more sympathetic if I hadn't watched Rosa being forced to eat her own siblings in the previous scene or whatever. I can't read Japanese, so unfortunately I have a while to wait before ep. 6 I'm currently part way through ep 5. And GL was cheesy, but cheesiness works in that case. For me, watching Ange babble about how the power of love makes her a true witch etc, and subsequently slaughtering people with her flower power was hilarious. The cheesiness seemed totally out of place.

+ Show Spoiler [Umineko game] +Oh, that part on the island? I kind of just laughed through that, didn't really think of that part as anything too important other than the reference to Love, which gets repeated over and over again in 5 and 6 as well.
Think Rosa was forced to do that at the end of ep 3 in tea party or ???, forgot. So sad that the anime didn't use nearly as much of the music from the game as it could have though

Aside from going through Umineko, I am also trying to use my ever so powerful willpower to try to finish the 2nd season to Junjou Romantica.
I have to say that the second season sucked. It is the same story for everything. Gay Man #1 is worried that Gay Man #2 doesn't like him anymore which turns out to be false then Gay Man #3 (or Hot Chick #1) tries to strengthen Gay Man #1's suspicion by doing really weird things to Gay Man #2.
In others words, the whole plot to the 2nd season is way too formulaic.
Not only that, most of the characters do not seem to be gay. They just love that guy so much. And some other strange stuff. One character is clearly gay but his brother is also gay (happened when he realized that young boys are just so....beautiful) and his dad is also gay (just happens to enjoy taking baths and doing funny things with his son). God, this show is so fucked up!
|
Gah! Now that I think about it, the 1st season was also formulaic!
Gay Man Number #1 is a nice, straight, young man until he meets Gay Man #2 who falls in love with him and flirts with him. Gay Man #1 does not like it and wants Gay Man #2 to fuck off. However, Gay Man #1 does not give up and continues to chase after the young man. Eventually Gay Man #1 says "FINE!!! You can suck my dick!!! Happy?" and Gay Man #2 happily does so. Then, the straight young man realizes how good it feels and falls in love with the other man and they live happily every after until season 2.
