Hellsing Ultimate sounds like a legit recommendation for him. Great fights, no mecha, plot requires more suspension of disbelief than usual but at least it's consistent.

The animation is good, almost pointlessly so.
There is no overarching plot. Well, unless you consider Oreki's sister being a bitch to be plot. The series is more sol than anything else, really.
The mysteries suck. And they don't really have much to make up for it either, unlike something like Un-go.
The characters are hit and miss. 2/4 annoy me. One of the others is generally likeable, and the last one varies between being likeable and being a bitch.

The live action movie is atrocious, Id just watch the anime
The movie takes out alot of the gore which made Gantz awesome, that and the lighting is terrible. Some parts were so dark you couldn't tell what was going on. Not to mention the mediocre acting

Cross Channel is really hit or miss with people, but that might have to do with Ixrec... With regards to Rewrite, Romeo does the majority of the story but there were multiple people involved in writing the heroine routes. I suppose it's very obvious which routes he didn't do.

Alright, Thanks guys. I decided for now, to feed him Fairy Tail and Soul Eater, mainly because I saw those two myself.
It's a safer bet to feed him shounen crap for now, until I scout out Monster and Kaiji, Another for myself.

It was pretty obvious who did what and Romeo did Moon+Tera anyway so~ CC can be kinda hit and miss I guess.
I don't know if reading Romeo in Jap would make all that big of a difference, he doesn't abuse the language itself that much. The question is probably more the quality of the English translations, which would indeed be suspect.
lol at the RWQ one, that game was probably better made than the majority of the SLGs this year.
