PA Works track record thus far: Angel Beats looked very pretty, had a relatively neat world, and a fairly good start. It turned into shit. Hanasaku Iroha began as an sol with a decent premise. It turned into shit. Another started off really promising. It turned into an unintentionally hilarious comedy (aka shit, albeit funny shit). There is a common pattern here, and it isn't a good one.
hah, makes more sense now, guess I'll try not to expect as much as the season goes on.

I dunno why people are hyped over SAO but whatever.

Must be masterpiece anime.

Eca's never read it, as far as I know. Unless he snuck in a read over the past month.

Total Eclipse Eps 1 + 2 + Show Spoiler +Audience had a field day with the Engrish and the fan-service suits. Doesn't look like TE will be explaining the reasoning behind the suits either, so oh well. First episode in retrospect seemed almost like a homage to Gunbuster (all-girls training school, main character with important parental connections, random rival showing up out of nowhere and eventually challenging MC to a mecha fight). Second episode totally delivered and beyond. As in wow, I am so hyped for the rest of the season now! As in, imagine being a front-line soldier during MLA's BETA attack on Yokohama base, with unending swarms of Destroyer/Grappler waves smashing through everything. + Show Spoiler [More in-depth Ep 2 spoilers] +Naval support was so epic. Laser-class super imba. Oh and Soldier-class. Just... Soldier-class. Tank-class too. Yeah, they didn't pull any punches here. Marimo-chan got off easy. Viewer discretion so definitely advised . Spoiler-free version: Ep 2 delivers super-awesomesauce hype hype hype
On a side note, the translator totally butchered the background info before the showing. As in, you could clearly hear Yoshimune (the producer) saying English phrases like A-bomb and ICBMs and Soviets and other stuff but the translator completely left it all out, translating paragraph-long explanations into single sentences.
Also they had live performances by the insert song singers prior to the screening (the audience kept wondering when they would get around to finally starting the screening, I felt bad for the guest singers). ayami was... kind of bad tbh. Kuribayashi was decent, about the same as her work in the VNs. The main issue was they had the volume turned up so high it was painful on the ears. I saw plenty of people around me plugging their ears during the performances. I think the volume was set for the screening but they didn't account for how the performances were even louder. Also, they scheduled another performance by Kuribayashi for after the screening, but everybody was already starting to leave - I felt super bad about leaving but I had to go. Also they left one of the ceiling lights on directly above the screen I was watching so it was hard to make out details during the darker scenes.
Anyhow, all in all, I was glad I went to the screening. Anime Expo's organization of the event was rather lacking in many aspects, but fortunately the episodes more than made up for it. Looking forward to watching Ep 2 again (this time in a setting with better lighting so that I can + Show Spoiler +see all the gory detail :/ )

Saki Achigahen + Show Spoiler +RIP Toki, you were a great MC.
Tari Tari + Show Spoiler +Pretty good art, rest of the ep reminded me of K-ON though. Want to get a club, recruit members. The True Tears reference surprised me though. Thought that was great.
Jinsui + Show Spoiler +Wtf did I just watch? zombie chickens, robot suicidal breads, fairies...

+ Show Spoiler [Jinsui 1] +I've seen this before. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/9ubvD.jpg) It's still hurts to watch. The jokes in this show are hitting a little too close to home...
MLTE 1 was boring. Sure it's for people new to the series and whatnot, but half that ep was stuff that I already knew, and the other half was shit about characters I don't care about.

Question is when is it going to start since it was scheduled to begin 15 minutes ago and there's still a few hundred of us sitting in line in front of the hall where it's going to be... so what you're saying is, we were sitting in the same room a few hours ago. I knew I should've gone to TE panel instead of tagging along with my friends for masquerade. It was horrible and pathetic, the height of non-intellectual casual anime watchers. The only plus is I got to see the seiyuu of KAISER REINHARD. he also sang :o
too sleepy to get on irc or post anything else but here's a pic of a Little Busters! jacket znf and I both bought. so awesome :D we even tried to get Rin's seiyuu to autograph it but the managers wouldn't let us without purchasing something from their shop even though she was REALLY happy and excited when she saw it haha. + Show Spoiler +

Anyone watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan? First few episodes seemed very childish to me, but had a couple great ideas in term of scenario. Second season starts after only 15 eps and it's really better, the show is actually developing into something much more mature. I'm still not done yet, only saw episode 20 yesterday but I was really surprised by how well the story progressed and wanted to have a talk about it.
Anyone else wants to share thoughts on that show?

Very sad about this year's AX, inferior industry guests from previous years, no free stuff for everybody at all my panels (raffles, raffles everywhere), small gaming room, and plenty-a-cutoff at every single panel I went to in a couple rooms (cough LP3/515A)... Not to mention X Games happening at the same time made it quite it nightmare for traffic/parking in the area. Seems like they're still tanking for their budget.
Also one panel had 6 whole people of attendees, poor them ;_;

Hey, I am currently searching for an anime to watch but nothing comes to my mind.. So I want to ask you for a recommendation.
One fact, either I love an anime or hate it, so it would be quite good to watch an anime which is similar to the animes i have watched already. (Elfenlied, Death Note, Code Geass R1 + R2, Full Metal Alchemist, Gundam 00, Gundam Seed + Destiny, Vampire Knight + Guilty, Highschool of the dead)
Thanks in advance
P.S.: I am really sorry for my bad english^^

Hey, give a shot at Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan, starts pretty simply, very childish basic Shonen, but than develops into something much closer to Code Geass than I could have expected from watching the first episodes. The author actually takes big risks in his story, characters are ok and there's a good amount of funny moment that reminded me of One Piece (those "not just a smile" funny moment but really laughing out loud). I personally started to watch it quickly after watching Code Geass which I found to be one of the most awesome animes I've ever watched, and as far as tastes goes, I loved FMA Brotherhood, Death Note and Elfenlied too ... don't know if it's enough for you to trust me
Otherwise give a shot at Black Lagoon, quite different but really interesting storyline, much more mature from the beginning.

Thanks alot, i will give it a shot :D
Forgot to mention that I am watching Fairy Tail and watched Bleach (but I quit because of filler chapters not only episodes -.-) Did anyone have animes in mind which are similar to them? :D

TTGL's enjoyability and ridiculousness scale exponentially as you move towards the end. I personally didn't mind the first episodes, but the second season was so good ( and ridiculous).

Like most things its starts off pretty slow and bad but its one of those shows that gets better and better the further it goes.

As for Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan not much to say really. Its one of my friends all time favorite anime but I cant say the same. it was just a little too juvenile for it to have a lasting impression. Dont get me wrong tho I did like it
