Hanamaru Kindergarten is the biggest pile of =_= that I've ever seen. It does nothing new other than introducing children in place of teenagers (which although is different from all other mainstream anime, narrows the focus down so much that it gets kind of boring). Disregard whatever I've said if you're looking for mindless entertainment though.
I'm surprised I don't see more adoration of Hidamari Sketch here though. It seems right up a lot of people alley in terms of character design, overexaggerated faces, and Lucky Star certain elements.
I'm finding that the only good anime this season is durarara!! Everything else is just "meh" UNLESS we see a dramatic turn around in Ookami (which might or might not happen, considering it's AIC).

I saw the first episode of Hidamari Sketch the other day, having heard of it from others and from a number of Stepmania songs from it. It was really right up my alley, giving me some nice laughs. It didn't seem as genre savvy or reference heavy as Lucky Star, but that's no problem. The interspersion of real life shots (don't know how they should be called) fit the art school theme well.
Will continue seeing it in the future the next time I'm bored and waiting for Proleague or whatever.

Oh and what's with the AMV hate? I absolutely adore AMVs as an art medium. There's simply so much the artist can do with the conversion of sight, sound, and potentially, word. Normal live action music videos pale in potential scope simply because anime encompasses such a huge range of stylized fantasies. Of course, there are tons of bad AMVs on the internet, which is regrettable.

The new Railgun OP is kind of meh, the first one was much better.
The animation quality seemed to suddenly shoot up, too, especially for Misaka...or maybe that was just budget shock from watching Railgun directly after Omamori Himari. Incidentally, Himari is terrible and I haven't facepalmed watching anime as much as I did while watching Episode 2 in a long, long time. Definitely not watching any more episodes of it.
I'm not really sure what else to watch this season, nothing's really caught my eye.

Durarara looks as Shounen as Baccano was, what that means probably varies from person to person.

The OP and ED aren't bad, but OP1 feels significantly better to me too. As for Omamori Himari, I never had any hope for it in the first place, good to see confirmation though.
As for this season, Sora no Woto is turning out like Aria with k-on style drawings so far, so some people can be interested. Durarara might be good, and Ookami Kakushi can also be good, though the last looks better as marathon material. I am really just treating this season to be an excuse to buy more novels.

Eh? Type B isn't just about strict moe, it's also about enjoying characterbased anime. I suggest you reread the definition.
Stuff like Toradora! , SZS, Kodomo no Jikan, Lucky Star, Kimi ni Todoke, Rozen Maiden, Spice and Wolf is obviously more enjoyable for Type B persons. Ok, maybe you're a borderline case here since you like some serious stuff (Monster?) but I'd still say you lean toward Type B.

Lucky Star was overhyped? Yes. Yet there was just something about it that caused a major upheaval in the fan base after it was aired, so it deserves major respect for that. It pretty much defined the genre.
And Hidamari Sketch is VERY well known. I think it was the most anticipated anime out of the Winter batch from early polling.
