Also, when you PM me please understand that I am completely computer retarded. Use Media Player Classic. I used to use the default Windows Media Player, then recently the newer video formats just ruined everything. But Media Player Classic should run any file ezpz, with CCCP ofc.
Through my PS3 though? If I'm not watching it on my TV then I'm... well then I'm angry.

Tonight, have you thought about finding some way to hook up your computer to your TV? If your TV has HDMI, you can get cables and stuff to hook up your computer to the TV, and use the TV as a monitor. That might be a solution for you.

Yeah, I thought I could, but apparently this computer doesn't have that hook up. I mean if worse comes to worse I've been able to find the shows still without 10bit and stuff, but it's becoming less and less.

I'am in same boat I have computer hooked up to my TV with XBMC installed and XBMC won't have it upcoming release and seams as I have to wait a half year or something at least.
Really bad the group jumps the 10bit bandwagon so fast without a backup plan.
There is a few re-encode or late non-official releases.

I'm very new to anime. I have only really watched Death Note (I think that is anime lol). After watching that, my friend said that I should watch Monster, I am 1/3 of the way through and I really like it. I came here to ask you guys if there are any other shows similar to Death Note and Monster that I can watch. Sorry if this post is a little off topic. Thanks.

you should watch school days
and welcome to ADT and anime

The vast majority of people who watch anime don't use things like PS3, so really its just a very small amount of people are getting left behind by the times. I would expect that eventually there will be some work around for PS3 stuff, but who knows.

Personally I found watching anime via PS3 a pain in the ass and just went with simple HDMI cable PC -> TV. Surely you have a HDMI TV if you have a PS3?
If you're set on watching it via PS3 can't help you.

not quite sure about the english name but there should be little adapters you can put between the HDMI cable and your computer. The adapters should change it from a DVI port ( or what ever your computer uses ) to a HDMI port so you can connect the cable

I spent a year or so watch most of my anime on the comp, but 47" 120hz 1080p TV with a couch to sit on beats being hunched over my computer with a 20something monitor

Which is why we have HDMI ports on computers and TVs

Sorry managed to miss that and somehow I unconsciously assumed everyone here would have PC's with HDMI.
Doesn't look like theres any known work around for the 10-bit PS3 viewing, Sonys support for PS3 media viewing is really bad as well.
So get a new PC or try one of them converters. I have a feeling that finding 8-bit releases is going to get more and more troublesome and eventually they will be gone for good.
Also for nostalgy, this reminds me of how I've gone over the years from watching evangelion on google video to downloading anime and watching them on PC monitor to watching them on sofa and large HD TV. Oh and originally I watched like Dragon Ball from a German TV channel as a kid, I didn't speak a word of Germany.
|
I guess I am due for a computer upgrade, but it isn't really in our budget right now.
|
Well, you don't need to replace the entire PC for an HDMI port. Find out if you can just add in a cheap video card.

Since he's a beginner, he shouldn't watch School Days or Mirai Nikki. Go watch Code Geass.
