I have since run out of good anime series to watch. Any recommendations that isn't Kampfer?
Keep in mind that I am the kind of guy that likes to watch .hack//sign, Haibane Renmei, Elfen Lied, Boogiepop, Evangelion, Lain, Texhnolyze, etc etc. I have done some KyoAni pleasures, but that's not what I'm looking for this time around.

If there aren't any suggestions, I'll start watching a ton of anime movies that I didn't know existed.

Know your roots, I guess. Nadesico and Utena. I won't call either of them good per se, but they are certainly defining in a way for that period. Then the Saint Seiya of 80s. Then what's good for 70s, hmmm...

I'm watching Ergo Proxy atm, but am somewhat disappointed tbh. Ghost in the Shell would be what I'd recommend if you haven't already seen it.

A bunch of fangirls the other day showed me a yaoi anime called Junjou Romantica. It is somewhat funny but the fact that the show is about a gay guy and a straight guy going gay sounds really messed up.

Just avoid yaoi lol, they're all pretty messed up (though I don't mind some yuri!)

Btw, I've started and finished Nanoha season 1. Guess it's better than other Magical Girl anime though so far, it's average at best imo. Does it get better or is my taste just off?

Season 2 gets a bit better, imo. The cliche morals never really go away, but eh, what do you expect. Despite being aimed at a more male audience, it's ultimately still a magical girl series.

I've finished the first two seasons of Nanoha and am gonna start on the third. The first season was REALLY eh, but the second season was pretty good. We'll see how the third season goes. It seriously looked to me like a plain ripoff of CCS from the getgo, but it came into its own after a few eps.

You could tell that like three different animation teams worked on the show at random times...that made me sad.
