what I wanted to get across is that you can dislike a show and call it bad because you think 50 percent of it is a train wreck and thats fine. Personally I thought deathnote was good.. was the second half as good as the second ? No.. but so what ? Its still a good show and it ran out of cleverness sure but again Im not to uptight about it

After seeing that Pocky Yuri action of Ga-Rei Zero a few pages back, I couldnt help but went ahead and watch Ga-Rei Zero. And damn was it good the first 2 episode captured me and the sisterly/yuri bond captivated me. To bad they wont continue with it though

Death Note is a good anime, but not a top-tier anime in my opinion. The first season was definitely better then the second season, but overall it had an interesting concept.

ugh I dont think you have to watch Fate Stay Night to watch Fate/Zero but Fate Stay Night is pretty good. Of course people who play the VN would say it suck for obvious reason but i'd still say watch it if you enjoy Fate/Zero. I still dont know what compelling you to want to watch Fate/Zero if you havent seen Fate Stay Night lol but I guess everyone has their own reason. I say watch it

my experience with FSN is I watched the anime first, then played through the visual novel, then watched Unlimited Blade Works. I immensely enjoyed the FSN anime and the visual novel, but I hated unlimited blade works because they skipped through too much stuff.
imo you should watch the anime if you haven't played the VN yet.

Really though, if you're going to watch it for the backstory (or afterstory, as it were), you might as well play the VN. The anime only covers the Fate route (1 of 3 routes in the VN), so you miss out on details such as Sakura's backstory. In addition, Fate is more or less an introduction to the universe, so they do a lot less philosophizing compared to the other routes. And since one of the better things about Fate/Zero was the indirect comparison between Kiritsugu and Shirou's ideologies, you are basically gutting the entire work since the Fate route is fairly bad at describing the consequences of Shirou's beliefs.
tl;dr read the vn if you're gonna bother with the anime.
