The only reason I like that show is that the protagonist is actually strong from the start, and not some little bitch who has to "find himself" or doesn't get strong until the last couple episodes. The entire concept of having these mock battles for supplies which determine whether you live or die while not helping eachother against these city destroying creatures is absurd tho. | ||

The ending is just so bad......soo bad....and no the main character is not the girl it the guy but I guess she is a pretty big role in the story......kinda... | ||

I think the producers thought if they put in enough cool looking action scenes, the audience would forget about the plot they were only pretending existed. But then to appease the smarter people, they kept pretending there was a plot. Then, in hopes of another season, they do it again after the final battle. | ||

I must of banged up head a little to hard but then again it seem like it did the trick and help me not remember. I guess it is for the best. All i remember was all the cute action and than the introduction of all the other people who had special weapon but then again I forgot that the introduction of those character didnt mean poop. Of course I might forgive them if they ever decides to make a season 2. | ||

Re: Chrome Shelled Regios They kinda messed with the timeline in the anime. Also I'm not actually sure who you guys are talking about with a "main girl," as he's essentially got a harem. If anything the "main girl" is the girl he left behind. He keeps contact with her, and she does eventually transfer over to join him. The "mock battles without helping each other" is because the cities are really in a battle royale. I'm not sure if it was made clear enough, but every city is really fighting for its own survival. This survival is unrelated to the monsters, as supplies are supplies. The monsters are just an added, but very different, threat. To that end in the novels you basically see Leifon start by trashing the beast invasion on the city (when he reveals his threaded blade), then in the next volume he single-handedly holds off a queen beast using a custom-designed hept blade. This leads to the rest of the city "waking up" of sorts and trying hard not to rely on him... and such. It's not a "great" series but it's got a lot more interesting elements to it than you'd expect, primarily because the main character is a one-man-army trying to learn how it is NOT to be a one-man-army. I just felt the anime really stunted a lot of those elements though :/ Edit: IIRC there wasn't much of a plot because it was rather SoL. The majority of conflict was based on people who wanted ahold of Leifon ('cause he's a one-man-army), the people who wanted the city's resources, and Leifon himself slowly becoming comfortable with the concept of "a home." No real consistent plot, although I didn't read past like vol 6 or so. | ||

In terms of manga they run the gamut but I'd say all-girl school stories are in the distinct minority. | ||
