When a character that I have known for 1-2 episodes is killed off, I find it pretty difficult to care. Second, over half the characters are useless. Seriously, the show has this massive cast, and only roughly four of them are actually plot relevant. You could take out everyone else and still get the same story. Third, the drama sucked. At various points, they had people sacrificing themselves for the team, but it had no impact because they used death waaay too many times. It was like they didn't know how to divide the comedy and drama portions of the show. The ending was handled pretty badly as well. Finally, the plot was a mess. Tenshi's not a ruthless killer, she's just socially retarded. Naoi is a bad guy for a total of two episodes. Tenshi has Otonashi's heart (and they didn't even have the decency to foreshadow this anywhere...). And as for the after-credits scene, to me, it seemed like a lazy way to make the story have a happy ending more than anything else. | ||

Well, I'm sure that if an MC is just not relatable or annoys you to no end, I find it reasonable to not like a story because of it. I ALMOST wanted to kill myself when I watched Code Geass because of Suzaku. Luckily I didn't.  | ||

Dude, beyond Shinji being the single worst main character in the history of anime, whats so special about the story? Until EoE, the story (not counting Shinji mental-stuff) is fucking Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, or GaoGaiGar. You understand why NGE is referred to as a deconstruction of mecha? Because it takes pretty much all the plot element of those type shows I just mentioned, and then goes full retard on the cast, and throws in a bunch of religious stuff because Anno thought they sounded cool (I'm not even making this part up). He is a tool to make the story worse. In fact, every character in Evangelion was. At least the movies throw in Mari, who is a great change of pace, they make Asuka less of a bitch, and don't focus as much on Shinji being a whiny little bastard. I think its hilarious you think that its stupid to hate a Eva because of Shinji, like people aren't allowed to hate the main character or something lol. | ||

I haven't seen any anime since I was a little kid (I only remember watching some girl trying to get good at volleyball on German television when I was like 4 or 5). Sometimes I feel like I'm missing a great medium, but there is so much stuff out there, that makes it hard to weed out the crap and watch the good stuff.
