The crying kid with the sword tatoo needs to be hanged. Never in my entire life have i ever watched a series, be it live action or anime, in wich i could literally not stand the very voice of a person. We are't talking "ooh this guy is so annoying/bad" i would literally throw off my headset when that character started talking.
Eventually i got quick enough at turning off the sound whenever it became likely he would open his mouth. Dear god the abomination that is his voice and his constant crying.
Worst of all that character could just as well have been written out of the show. He and his merry band of misfits serve little to no purpose.
That said, Baccano is pretty good. It should have removed it's final part (the mechanic), that served no purpose other then to annoy me.
Durarara is from the same creators but also suffers a bit off the same problems. Overall it's good but since the story is so split it tends to have good story lines and bad story lines and good characters and bad characters.
Still, whoever is making those shows deserves a bit of credit for the simple fact that their characters are, for the most part, not boring copy paste characters. They might write them hit or miss but atleast you can't say any of them have really been done before, wich is more then can be said about 99% of all characters in anime.

It took way longer than I expected for them to get their encodes, but I guess they were never too fast to begin with. T_T

The last two episodes are OVA, not part of the actual season. They were some of the most popular parts of the LN so they were included. Jacuzzi is a pretty important character, and serves to keep comedy in the show so it doesn't get too heavy. His voice is supposed to be annoying and silly.

There are many claims that it is the best anime ever. Sadly it ended up inflating my expectations too much, so i ended up dropping it for later after ~50 episodes.
To me it felt a bit like Code Geass trying to take itself far too seriously with two sides taking turns winning decisive battles by using ridiculous plans. It did have much better characters though. You gave yourself away as a troll with that second paragraph, try harder next time. The answer should be what is "Gundam Syndrome"? The guy is saying stuff like "Taking itself too seriously!" when it doesn't take itself any more serious than any other normal war story. I guess he wishes that Reinhard and Yang went to the same High School together on the side, and do stupid stuff there like take command of a fleet to bake a pizza. And ridiculous strategies? I agree, flanking, feints, pincers, charges, and other normal battlefield tactics that they use in LoGH are all ridiculous. They should have just continuously blown up the ground under the enemy in every single battle ever. Or maybe hack into their communication systems every single battle, and LOL WE READ UR MOVES. Then it wouldn't have had ridiculous tactics. lol, I didn't even read your reply, what does Gundam Syndrome have to do with LoGH? I heard what you said it was on IRC, and I'm puzzled as to how that is relevant to LoGH. Well, Code Geass makes sense as an attempt to parody everything anime at the same time so it's impossible to take seriously. The battlefield tactics of LoGH isn't any problem, they are usually reasonable. + Show Spoiler +The problem is that when one side gets a significant advantage, either the other side starts pulling off some crazy stuff or the first side does uncharacteristically idiotic stuff.
Capturing a mini death star with a small group of sword armed soldiers makes sense, Yang is a genius. Then let the previously excellent commanders of the Empire throw away a couple of fleets and another mini death star trying to take it back. It's also a good thing Yang passed on those brilliant tactics to his pupil so that he could capture that Imperial destroyer that got in the way.
If nothing else works when the empire is about to win a decisive battle, why not just invent some new physics to stop them. Code Geass wasn't meant to parody anything, its just a show that turned out hilarious because of how hard it tried and failed. LoGH: + Show Spoiler +Sounds like you are talking about Season 1 stuff (other than the shit that I have no idea what you are talking about), with the Empire throwing away fleets and stuff stupidly. In Season 1, everyone not associated with Yang or Reinhard was retarded. And then they all die by the end of Season 1, because Yang and Reinhard are that good. Then you get 3 Seasons of pure awesome. Code Geass wasnt that bad....it sure had it flaws but overall the mech action was pretty good atleast. I think it should of started with a darker theme similar to Death Note. The overall setting was just to colorful for it to be drawn into a more series dark theme. What ticked me off was Lelouche playing chess with his brother and he didnt take the win....I would never understand that scenario. Their are a lot of key flaws in the anime but it can be overlooked I suppose. Like some people said, if you shut off your brain and completely removed the word "why" from existences, then it the best anime in decades. he didn't take the win because Code Geass is actually BL in disguise and because Lelouch is a uke character. They might write them hit or miss but atleast you can't say any of them have really been done before, wich is more then can be said about 99% of all characters in anime. The last two episodes are OVA, not part of the actual season. They were some of the most popular parts of the LN so they were included. Jacuzzi is a pretty important character, and serves to keep comedy in the show so it doesn't get too heavy. His voice is supposed to be annoying and silly.
If a character is supposed to be so annoying that the viewer wants to drive a screwdriver into their ear they have indeed succeeded. One would be wise however to question the wisdom of putting such a character into the show to begin with.
Jacuzzi actually isn't all that important though. As for comedy, whatever humor may be derived from his character is quikly diminished as his screeching voice tears it's way into your skull. Maybe he is important in the manga but he serves no real purpose in the anime. Durrara suffers from a similar design flaw where there are a handfull of characters wich are just thrown in there and instantly forgotten, all because they appear in the manga.
The OVA part with the mechanic might be a popular part of the light novels but that doesn't excuse the anime counterpart from being utterly boring and ridiculous. It doesn't fit the story at all and it's poorly executed to boot. The OVA can't stand on it's own. Regardless of how good the LN's might be, that doesn't make the OVA any better.
