And, is anyone else watching FMA Brotherhood? I know some of you probably know how it ends, since it's based on the manga... but the story is pretty damn good. O_O

I thought the Chinese guy was annoying (though a bit amusing at times) for a while.. but he played a pretty important role in the latest two episodes... so.... CHINESE GUY REDEEMED.

So short, though. ): On September 15 2009 19:42 Thesecretaznman wrote: Whenever people critisize something like this... I usually fail to understand why they dislike it. Of course, it may be helpful to clarify what you specifically disliked about certain characters voices. I think the way Kyon speaks works for this anime... maybe it's because the light novels (which I haven't finished yet. so no spoilers, please) were narrated by him. I thought the Chinese guy was annoying (though a bit amusing at times) for a while.. but he played a pretty important role in the latest two episodes... so.... CHINESE GUY REDEEMED. I'm comparing the voice acting to that of the first season. The cast was nearly perfect in the first season. I think the quality of the acting that the seiyuus are putting in is mediocre. The only ones doing a good job are Hirano Aya for Haruhi and the one for Nagato...not that doing her would be too much of a challenge, methinks. I don't dislike the voices (except Mikuru's voice changed this season and it's been bugging me a bit), I just think the seiyuus aren't doing as good a job as in the first season.

on a separate note, does anyone know any other animes with a similar art style? I thought the animation was sloppy in the first 2-3 minutes that I saw it, but I ended up really liking it

Since that one, I've been trying to get into all the great anime movies I hadn't seen yet. Just search around ANN's database filtering movies only...haha.

Addressing stuff on this page~ Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is excellent IMO - if you don't like the way it is going currently, you wouldn't like the manga either, unless you just prefer manga over anime as a general thing. It's following the manga exactly, so reading ahead (if you choose to) would only be spoiling yourself. (I do this for every ongoing series I like, but if it's not your cup of tea,[is that a phrase], then I'd recommend against it obviously?) - ._. I'm surprised people dislike the voice acting in Haruhi this season. I can't really tell the difference between this one and the first in terms of quality, just having the same seiyuus and "similar enough" sounds was good enough for me. The only thing that comes to mind is Koizumi seems to accent his (sort of.. flaunty?) style of speech a bit more in the new episodes compared to the original, but that was okay. =x So~ What animes should be on this season's list for watching? By this season, I guess I just mean 'currently airing.' atm I have - Bleach, Canaan(have not started), FMA:B, Hayate no Gotoku, Pandora Hearts, Requiem for the Phantom, Spice and Wolf II(have not started for some weird reason), Tears to Tiara, Haruhi, Tokyo Magnitude(haven't started), and Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Looking at the post above, I should add Bakemonogatari - Are there any others? :x

On the matter of movies, been trying to find something for Summer Wars and just plain failing, need a dvd quick. Somehow looking forward to that more than I am rakkyo ep7, though that might be partly be because I have read the book to death. News of anything on chapter 8, should it ever be aired, would probably bump it back to the top of my want list. About Koizumi's style of speech, more of it is conveyed to me in the phrases, words, conjugation and overall structure of it all rather than the voice and intonations. That can simply be because of my fixation over the novel form however. As for Nagaemon, well, that's the kind of character she started as. Unfortunately it looks like we won't get to see anything new from Haruhi at this point, so not much can be said there. Tears to Tiara is picking up again, unfortunately the original game also suffered from a rather extreme change in tension. Umineko is looking great, having Beatrice voiced out is just plain excellent. Greatly looking forward to the materials from ep3 of game (should it see animation this season) and 5 when we eventually get around to it, just for the voices. EDIT - + Show Spoiler [umineko ep12] + Looks like they are going right on

Haha it's only been about a month since Summer Wars came out and you expect it to be ripped already? Good luck with that ^_^. Rakkyo is incredible. Also a very recent release, still waiting for that :X. On another note of movies, I finally got around to watching 5 Centimeters Per Second. Brilliant stuff there. Sheer brilliance... Oh, and have any of you seen Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea? I found it very amusing ^_^

Looking at the post above, I should add Bakemonogatari - Are there any others? :x I tend to think this way too. FMA: Brotherhood is excellent. Agreed. I actually didn't think to evaluate the voice acting of Haruhi at all... it seemed exactly the same... I think it was mentioned in the last/second to last episode that + Show Spoiler + Mikuru's mannerisms are all part of an act to get close to Kyon, so if it really does sound like Mikuru is "acting," or sounds "fake," to any of you, this might explain why(?) I haven't watched any of what you've listed, except for FMA:B, Haruhi, and TM8.0. I'd like to watch them all, but I imagine they'd be a huge time sink. -_- But for the record, I'm also watching Princess Lover. Probably the silliest thing I've ever seen with the worst storyline ever. ;\
