although it's just a remake of the 2nd part of the series (space journey), I was pleasantly surprised by the additional scenes and remakes of old scenes. On wiki I read that there were about 20 mins worth of new scenes, and I can fully give my thumbs up for them! Was awesome seeing it all over again.
The second movie was alright. I thought the idea of the "Super TTGL" was lame, and then all the mini TTGLs too. Was TTGL not big enough for you, Gainex? I thought the series ended it right. Also was annoyed that some of the characters who died in the series didn't die in the movie. Less of an emotional impact.
Fun fact: People who watch GL and no other Super Robot show think STTGL is the strongest mecha ever. When it really wasn't even a mech, more like a big mass of Spiral Energy. Oh yeah, and it got its ass kicked.
Decent movie overall, but I preferred the series' end over the movie.
While I agree with you about the Super TTGL and how stupid it looked, I liked the little mechs for each person. It's true that some people didn't die which makes it a little shitty, but the final fist fight was cool . I also kinda missed the TTGL ass-kicking the anti-spirals but overall I think it turned out fine.
Yeah, overall it turned out good. I guess I'm just nitpicking, and prefer the series lol.
What is the appeal of a teacher in training? Something is wrong with everyone. Honestly she is super annoying and dumb, even worse than she was in the manga. I can almost see the appeal to her in the manga, but she is much worse in the anime.

"Super annoying and dumb?" Don't EVER, and I mean EVER, talk to me again. I'm usually joking and trying to be funny when I say this, but I'm being totally serious this time. I can't believe that you could ever say something like that about Nagase Jun. I've never felt so insulted in my entire life.

Did you even see the episode yet? She doesn't know whats going on nor does she have a clue about how to act normally around other people ("my hero is what's-his-name dead pro wrestler guy" as an introduction??? and then sits there blushing... who does that?). Is this supposed to be "cute"?? because to me it is annoying and dumb. The last filler episode was so much better than this one, and probably better than all of jun's arc combined.
edit: spoilered even though it doesn't really need it
Watched the Movie (awesome) and episodes 3 & 4. The TV Show seems alittle less interesting, but I've always been a movie guy. So far, I'm definitely hooked - Reinhard and sis reminds me of the Lannisters - wonder if RR Martin watched this series.
One question for you megafans: Is the music original? I can hardly believe it if it is, and if it's not, is there a good place to keep track of what music is being played throughout the series? It's amazing .

It takes a bit for the main OVA to get up to the movie's quality. There are different phases to the show. You will have a big battle, and then you will have a period of development that shows the aftermath, and leads you up to the next big thing. You aren't too far off from the next big battle, and then things just keep getting better from there.

No the music is a collection of excerpts from classical pieces. The most common composer by far is Mahler (and all of Mahler's stuff is amazing, his second symphony is probably my favorite symphony ever). IIRC Beethoven's 5th is used a couple of times (especially the third movement), and I know Dvorak's 9th is used a couple of times.
I can't remember everything off the top of my head, but I had heard pretty much every piece before I watched LoGH, which means that they're all famous symphonies. If you pick up a bunch of well known symphonies, odds are good LoGH will use at least one of them somewhere.
Yeah I watched a few more episodes, and I definitely recognized some Mozart in there... I didn't think it was original music (far too good), but didn't want to make assumptions.
I wonder about things like this:
This is really bothering me... But I have to say as somebody who is really into classical music, there could be no better treat and reward for watching the show than being introduced to all this new music :D
