It was mentioned a page or two ago. Ferrose summed it up pretty nicely: it's just a typical sports anime with a little business jargon thrown in for good measure. Still, it's not bad.

I guess watching this might open things up for me. The most generic formula is something along these lines: 1) Shitty team loses a bunch of games 2) New arrivals motivate the team 3) They win stuff Add losses and drama in between steps 2 and 3 to increase the length of the series.

Basically what Spazer mentioned that I said earlier. Also, Minami is pretty damn moe and is able to keep my attention through the meh at best baseball parts. The animation also kinda sucks but it's not gonna keep me from watching and/or enjoying it. Edit: Listen to Souma. Ippo=AMAZING.

ZNF, if you are reading this, a lot of times sports stories have something really emotional to spur them on so they can achieve their final goal. My bets are that Yuki dies of her retarded, incurable anime disease and the team all shouts "YUKI BANZAIIIIIIIII!" and rapes everyone in their path. Anyway, their coaches are confirmed idiots. The no-ball-no-bunt strategy involves throwing only strikes and having fielders play closer to the plate. What. They showed that it would cause many more hits and errors by the pitching team, which is true, since hitters will get more hittable pitches to hit. They try to rationalize it by saying that it will lower pitch counts and get the team off the field quicker, but I don't think this strategy could work, unless you have a team with hyper offense (and even then probably not), because you would dig yourself such a huge hole that you'll never be able to climb out.

They wouldn't introduce a character like that if something bad wouldn't happen to them, unfortunately. : /

Ofcourse moe bullshit gets a sub within the hour. Not really sure why because you actually need the text to get the story in Kaiji whilst you can just watch the moe shit without subs and i would assume the result is the same.
