Big Mom, maybe im wrong since it was ages ago, but isn't she the mother of that lola from the rolling pirates at thriller bark. I know it havn't been confirmed but I remember it beeing hinted pretty obviously with her refeering to her as big mama and that she was an icnredibly powerfull pirate in the new world. It would make sense. also they got a vivrecard.

There will be someone else with a hat. this, or luffy will end up blowing the island, but that will be good somehow.

Oh, and I only watch the anime, but figured since it's still OP I shouldn't make a new thread about it.
In one piece people only die in the past where most of the characters had really shitty things happen to them. While the present is full of dreams, adventures and happy go lucky times and no one can ever truly die. It's a nice contrast that Oda draws.
But without spoiling too much, you cant live in a dream world forever.
...and you should of skipped those 5 recap episodes.

I did skip some of them. I really loved Choppers past so I watcehd that again, but the rest were kinda meh.
I have a question about the future after Enies Lobby aswell. Will it just be like DBZ where Luffy is the only strong guy, and the rest of his crew just kinda gets forgotten? Dont spoiler too much, a simple yes or no would prolly be enough. I really like the other characters, would be sweet if they also got stronger and so on.

It hasn't been officially written that Big Mom is Lola's mom, but she could be. Lola did say that her mom is a powerful pirate in the New World.

As mentioned above, they all have gotten stronger, some enormously... But whats more is that the power levels of their opponents have also improved a lot so i wouldnt worry to much about "balance" issues ^^

But you have to admit that the 3 Admirals are ridiculously overpowered. The jump in power from a Vice Admiral to an Admiral is insane. All the Vice Admirals put together wouldn't even come close to taking down an Admiral.

Its true they are VERY powerful , but not overpowered, wrong word choice imo, no offense though^^
Seen as one of them could be stopped by dark king raleigh -a remnant of the old era btw - it means the other side has "overpowered" characters too so. That , and Mugiwara has Haki now and maybe something else who knows ^^
Edit: And put Whitebeard in full force against even Akainu, im pretty sure he beats his ass, he could maybe even take on two admirals, without interference ofc and at full power

Watched the Episode preview for the next anime episode and noticed something off
+ Show Spoiler +When Akainu hits Whitebeard he only really hits his beard. I was waiting to see how they would animate this part but it looks like there gonna edit out whitebeard loosing half his head by akainu's punch. WTF . taking out something that help show what a bad ass whitebeard is and fighting to the death with those injuries http://www.mangafox.com/manga/one_piece/v58/c575/5.html

ya but if you watch the preview for the next episode you can see its only his mustache. I hope not but thats what it seems like so far. have to wait till sat to really find out

Sorry if someone addressed this before, but here it goes (this is entirely imho):
Naruto and Bleach fell from their original glory as anime/manga while One Piece has stayed true to itself throughout. By this, I mean that Naruto and Bleach started out as fairly new/unique shounen stories, but soon fell prey to what I sometimes call the DBZ syndrome. By no means am I dissing DBZ (i thought it was awesome, a classic that introduced me early in life to anime), but what I mean is the following: In DBZ (and Naruto and Bleach, recently), the series reaches a point in which the main characters have become so powerful, making them stronger would become unimaginable, and yet they face stronger enemies and do become stronger. At first, DragonBall had new ways of making them stronger, such as Goku's ape mode or learning the kamehameha, but later it was just them becoming irrationally stronger with SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, etcetc. Same with Naruto and Bleach. Bleach's lack of innovation is quite evident after Ichigo's only improvements are bigger Getsuga Tenshos. Naruto was a little bit more concealed, but it still happened. Remember the first arc? The one where Naruto/Sasuke had crappy jutsus but made an awesome thing with it against Zabuza? That's when I got hooked into the series. I thought "THESE are ninjas." Being resourceful and intelligent with what few skills they have to challenge the overpowered villain. In short, using shitty skills to do something crazy. And now what? People have insane skills and do shitty things with them. Danzo for instance, and his space-time jutsu Izanagi. All the insane possibilities he had with that, and what does he do? *spoilers* (for those of u who read it, u know what im talking about). And in more recent chapters, you might recognize that the biggest jutsu right now is just an excuse to put zombies in the story.
Well, this almost feels like a rant now, but I had to make a point. While One Piece may have an occasional hiccup with their filler arcs, it compares in no measure to Bleach's 60/50 mainstory-to-filler proportion or Naruto's 135/85. Besides, Oda Eiichiro keeps coming up with exceptionally unique and new characters, skills, strengths, and techniques throughout the series. His art style might scare potential new fans away, but in my opinion, it has become a perennial style, where his initial charm hasn't faded away, but it is being polished and perfected through its 13 years of continuous work.
To wrap this up (and for those of you who tl;dr), One Piece > Naruto/Bleach!
|
Disclaimer: I loved DBZ, I still read Naruto to find out what happens next, and I am waiting for Bleach to end so I can pick it back up and just finish it. Through my previous post, I did not intend to undermine Naruto/Bleach for those of you who like them, but rather accentuate One Piece's strengths through comparison.
