Not even close. Zoro is the one who improved the most from where he started, but he was never close to Luffy. The best, and official indicator was the douriki measurement during Enies Lobby. It's hard to assess Luffy's strength accurately because he's a plain looking guy without muscles, but he was already super strong when the series started, he just lacked real combat experience. Remember how he punched through Krieg's metal or steel armor? Or when he lifted that huge wooden ship part of Kuro's? The god knows how many tons of golden ball punch?

They were about equal on post-time skip until WCI arc has happened. Oda has shown that Zoro can also hold himself against Luffy's opponents, Hody Jones and Fujitora. Pica and Monet werent chumps either.
Anyway, i like the theory about Kaidou being a dragon who ate Oni DF, which gave him human qualities. Thus thats why he is called the strongest creature in the world. I also like the theory about Orochi also being a dragon, where both Kaidou and Shogun represents Dragon of the East and Dragon of the West.

Yeah, it seems to me like Jack's thing is his ability to take punishment and be OK.

Jack is likely another half-fishman with those teeth allowing him to breathe underwater. Love the character, great devil fruit to pair with such a vicious enforcer.
Shutenmaru is likely to be one of the three samurai that Kimmeon is searching for, you can also just look at the outlines and compare lol. In the tale of the 47 ronin, after their master is killed, the samurai under him vow to scatter and regroup years later to take revenge for their lord by assassinating the other lord responsible. Part of their scheme includes becoming drunks and vagrants in public to masquerade their public actions to elude spies.
One of them supposedly marries the daughter of the architect of the targeted lord’s manor, just to get access to the blueprints! Another frequents the tea houses and whorehouses and casts himself as a degenerate fallen samurai so hopefully O-Robi chapter soon!

Jack was never even close to losing to the minks. That's the whole point. They fight for 5 days straight. The minks take breaks, Jack doesn't. But they don't gain any ground on him at all. They just get rid of his underlings. And you say marines like it's just pleb soldiers and not Fujitora, Sengoku and Tsuru.

Nothing can make me believe that Shanks dont have a very powerful DF after seeing each Yonkou.
Whitebeard/deceased - Had power to destroy the world with his DF.
Blackbeard - Got Whitebeards power on top of his darkness fruit, where he can neutralize any DF power.
Big Mom - Has homies where she can control fire, lighting and water, her skin thick like an iron. Was strong enough to kill an Elbaf legend at age of 5 lmao.
Kaidou - a legendary immortal dragon that cant be killed.
Shanks? just a boi with one arm who uses sword.
You just cant be equal to those monsters by only having a strong haki. There is Garp, but he is an exception in whole series, plus he havent got only one arm like Shanks.

What about Rayleigh? Pirate King's #2 with just Haki and swordsmanship.

We havent seen prime Rayleigh fighting so i cant make comment on that. However, if you are talking about present Rayleigh, there is 10 years difference between him and Big Mom. I dont think he could beat her
You are missing something again that Shanks has one arm despite being a swordsman. It is a huge disadvantage.
There is an example of Mihawk, the strongest swordsman who is in prime atm. Do you think he can beat one of Kaidou/Big Mom/Blackbeard in a 1v1 fight?

His one arm is still enough to stop attacks from Whitebeard and Akainu. I reckon he's just very strong and has (some of) the greatest Haki in One Piece.

Yeah it's probably Haki based. Like Katakuri showed that there was a next level for Obs Haki, but also armament Haki. Maybe Shanks just excels at that.

MIhawk is prime rayleigh level (zoro's final opponent should be this strong and zoro should be able to extreme diff diff diff rayleigh by the time luffy is pirate king).
So by end of series Luffy is pirate king level, zoro is yonko level, and sanji is admiral level. Mihawk should theoretically be able to give very very difficult fight for any of the yonkos.

He swam, which is something that DF users can't do without sinking. But that was 10 years before Luffy started his journey. I guess what Mensol is saying is that Shanks ate a DF in the big ass time gap to compensate for the loss of an arm.

oda showed shanks' brief clash with whitebeard for a reason; to highlight that a one armed small fry like shanks has the strength to go toe to toe with the strongest man in the world with his haki alone.
