I think Hawkins would hold his own for a while with his best df power/secret move like Bege's big father but at the end, he would get beaten by Luffy for sure. Luffy is head and shoulder above of rest supernovas atm. btw, sooner or later we are going to have supernova vs supernova, Oda has been building up Kid vs Apoo since the instructions of supernovas. Apoo has now betrayed their alliance with Kid, so there is surely going to be Apoo vs Kid. This is perfect arc to settle those stuff and eliminate a few supernovas. | ||

Hawkins' power is tricky though which Luffy doesn't do well against historically. Though there's no guarantee that Hawkins will fight him directly--who knows how motivated he is to do Kaidou's bidding. It has evolved to a political struggle against the World Government with a hugely complex number of factions and alliances. The Reverie was like the first culmination of that greater theme. Then we got yanked out of it before any conclusion and we're right back to a journey story. We know this journey is leading directly to Kaido with Big Mom likely making a significant appearance as well, so it's not some random island in the sky with little effect on the rest of the world (until God comes down from the Moon and crushes Im beneath his boot), but it's not the Reverie either. At the start of this arc, Oda is going back to the Journey formula that started One Piece's popularity, so we got a couple slower chapters. I don't think he will linger there too long. The greater themes will pop up again quite soon (poisoned industrial water in the last chapter) which will lead back to the greater fight against a corrupt world that has set One Piece apart from simple Journey mangas. | ||
