Jack is strong but so was Fujitora and i guess Fujitora's DF was a good counter to Jack's melee skills especially on the sea where Fuji could summon meteors against your boat and Jack couldn't actually do anything besides trying to destroy them while getting closer to brawl!

Luffy vs Jack is likely to be like the battle versus Rob Lucci.. a contest of strenght and will

Against DD Luffy was at a very big disavantage because DD was so "smart" and full of tricks

About the DD being honorable... that was proven 100% false.. he was a psycopath and mass murderer

I think a standard 1v1 fight between luffy vs DD .,. DD would've lost fast

when the actual fight happened DD felt so outclassed by luffy in terms of strength.

Man i wish the Jack vs Luffy(possible fight) would be as sick as lucci vs luffy

I disagree with that assessment. Gear 2 and 3 did nothing to Doflamingo after he almost got killed by the Gamma Knife. Gear 4 overpowered him but wasn't enough to beat almost dead Doflamingo in one go. He needed to go Gear 4 twice AND survive the period in-between where he couldn't use his haki. If the gladiators hadn't been there Luffy would have died in that time period.

Yeah, strength wise G4 completely overpowered him but that's not all there's to a fight.

Dunno before he went using g4 there were aloot of obstruction, feels like he was already exhausted before he got to doffy. I think if they just 1v1'd and he figured out he needed g4 immediately doflamingo would be destroyed. When luffy used g4 it didn't look like it was even at all, it was a brutal beatdown where doflamingo just couldn't keep up

Yeah, strength wise G4 completely overpowered him but that's not all there's to a fight.

that's fair there was also a possibility that luffy would underestimate and go complacent against doflamingo

Its hard to really gauge that fight because Luffy and DD both went into it injured, were Luffy's injuries worse? Were DD's? DD got his inside's all torn up by Law, but he did perform string-triage on himself, so maybe that (at least temporarily) negated a certain amount of the impact?

Starting from full health I'd probably have to give it to DD though, Luffy did have to go at him in G4 TWICE, so 1v1 DD has a pretty long time period to fuck him up if he just survives through the first G4.

In my opinion Luffy is simply to stupid to tackle a fully powered DD atleast for now. Luffy could have died in the water pit because he was careless and stupid like usual..

smarts DD > Luffy
ruthless DD > Luffy
experience DD > Luffy
DF usage DD > Luffy -> since he has awakened it - imagine luffy fighting against DD and his clone and DD can fly(using the strings) so he could arguably fight above water

strenght Luffy > DD
Haki Luffy > DD
speed Luffy > DD - when using gears

BUT if you consider DD is a 40 year old pirate and Luffy is 18 or so... i guess kudos to Luffy

Luffy only beat DD because he had help. G4 wasn't enough to finish DD in one go, without the fodder getting luffy time, DD would win.

Law's attack should have been a lethal blow, but DD brushed it off and it was never mentioned or implied it had any effect on DD's abilities during his fight with Luffy. I would have preferred if it was shown to be a critical part of Luffy's victory because even without that being emphasized it shown that Luffy was too weak to beat DD alone having to saved by everyone else.

Come on internal bleeding vs fighting people with breaks in between? Chinjao was hours before the DD fight and Luffy did not need to use G4 after that it was goons and Bellamy.

It's not like DD wasn't fighting earlier either, he fought Law, Fujitora, Sanji and Kyros. Blah blah DD didn't take damage or different circumstances. Yeah DD didn't take damage because he was strong and has OP abilities, but Luffy's main character gimmick is he has crazy endurance. I don't see how you can think Luffy getting tired from fighting people earlier or weak enemies later is a bigger deal than Luffy/Law's 2v1 Redhawk or Law's internal organ bleeding attack.

Oda made a comment on the manga’s future in Jump Festa 2016 which was held on 19/20 Dec.
