The start of the series had an interesting concept, harvesting souls of the dead and renegade souls that had to be fought, but that idea was never used to it's full potential in my opinion and instead it seems like just random fights one after the other. The human characters were also completely unimportant in the last arc even the the start of Bleach into the Soul Society arc made it seem like they would be Ichigo's companions. What we got instead was a bunch of captains that just cluttered the manga. Now Ichigo's human friends are back, but not sure if they'll stay important throughout this arc.

Yeah, the first bit was pretty cool, each hollow was fairly developed, powerful, and intelligent. Then Ishida showed up with his bait, and suddenly hollows stopped mattering. It led to mudflation of character/enemy power levels that just couldn't be satiated for as long as he's been trying to make it last. I hate to admit that at this point I'm more interested in seeing the 4th movie just for entertainment value than I am looking forward to new chapters in the manga. Although our new vacuum like friends might help the rest of the human characters have a nice reset... give the whole thing a Blizzard-style wipe. Take all of their powers which they got through Ichigo, give it back to him... although he does need to die again to get his power back, doesn't he? So far that has happened every time he's regained powers. Perhaps all the human characters can take turns killing him with their powers. I don't really care much anymore. Reading the manga has become a 5-15 part of my weekly schedule that I don't expect much from anymore.

Fullbring is so OP (jk) The story doesn't even sound original and its like the author just thought of it in one minute without giving it much thought. I was actually hoping that this series would get somewhat better..

It's really up to the point where I'm just reading the weekly release just for the sake of reading it now... I haven't truly enjoyed it in quite a long while. The prolonged Aizen arc just killed everything for me.

He said in an interview a few years ago, that he didn't plan any story arc beyond the Soul Society arc. He didn't even consider making Aizen the main villain until the very end of the SS arc. He just makes it up as he goes. He writes what he thinks would fit the story and would be cool. He doesn't even have the slightest of idea what will happen 20 chapters from now.

i agree with chaoser who puts it well. the fact that there has been no real character development (actually reverse development) since the soul society arc makes the manga feel flat.
