Nope, he got knocked out/fainted, and woke up to find his mom mutilated and dead. He had no idea why she died, and had no clue what a hollow was. The only thing that lead him to believe Grand Fisher was involved in killing his mom was the lure.

I know how you feel. I watched/read the first couple of arcs and the Bleach just didn't take itself seriously. I mean a talking teddy bear for limited comedy value with a somewhat touching interesting story behind it I could manage, but an army of unnecessary characters and plushies... My fuck no

.... so... masaki had her powers stripped from her, at the exact moment she was gonna fight grand fisher, because Juha Bach came back to power that day, and deemed her unpure because she was part hollow? doesn't that mean he can just take away Ichigo's quincy powers too?

Technically yes, but I'm sure they'll come up with a BS reason for why Ichigo can keep them... Probably something like his mother having pure blood and his dad being a shinigami, means his rieatsu is "pure" and not sullied by mortal/human blood.

So.... Juha Bach is kind of Ichigo's grandad. Also Aizen made the hollow that got in masaki so I'm guessing he is somewhat of a dad to Ichigo as well. Juha Bach - the origin of his (soon to be unlocked) quincy powers, Aizen - the origin of his hollow powers, Ishin - the origin of his shinigami powers. Makes it easy to forget he also has fullbring powers.
Bleach - the story of a an ordinary teenage boy who happens to be related in some way to every single strong power/entity that the writer has come up with so far.
edit: one could say Ichigo has 3 dads and 1 mom.

I know this is Bleach and all, but that explanation really does seem half assed. This does explain why Ichigo's dad lost his powers, but it seems like a random made up motivation for Ichigo to want the new bad guy dead. It almost seems like his dad is making it up with seemingly no evidence for what he is saying and Kubo probably is because his mother may have not been intended to be a Quincy when Bleach was first written.
