Ichigo defeating Aizen was a part of the plan (good acting skills Aizen-sama) He wanted Ichigo to lose powers so he can meet Ginjou who was instructed by Aizen so eventually Soul Society would give theirs powers to Ichigo. Now Ichigo has even more power which he could grow. Of course we're missing his quincy development. But that's why we have Ishida and his father around. It is not a coincidence that Quincies attacked just after Ichigo got his powers back.

I don't know why Shinji is a big deal. Was Aizen afraid of Vaisards interfering somehow? He might have overestimated them.
How big of a deal is Hogyouku in all this? Was it only a tool to reach a goal?

edit2: also I want to rewatch the episodes with Kukkaku and Ganju from SS arc. They knew that Ichigo is their cousin, right? They had to. Yoruichi would definitely tell them.
edit3: So where does Ichigo's asauchi come from? Did Isshin's sword somehow split in half? ORRR...

Ok, I get it. Rukia took Kaien's zanpaktou and somehow managed to give it to Ichigo (unconsciously). Kaien died not long before Bleach started, right? It also explains similiarity of Isshin's and Ichigo's zanpaktous and the constant Shikai form (Kaien's sword might have been in shikai form when he died)

edit4: So Kaien's sword magically disappeared when fighting the hollow who killed him... 100% sure it was part of the plan ^^
But the problem is... his Shikai was very different from Zangetsu. So this whole theory falls apart (unless zanpaktou can be reforged by shinigami's soul or sth). So... most likely Zangetsu is related only to Isshin.
