You nailed it. Kubo is just a very inept story-teller. It feels like he does not have a long term plan at all. Story wise, things have gone from bad to worse, especially with the rehash of certain gimmicks (last moment save of Ichigo/Ishida/random shinigami's etc etc). This gives me the idea he's making up shit as he goes along. Such a shame. There are no indications that this arc will be better than the ones before. | ||

During the arrancar arc, for example, Ulquiorra and Grimjow were really the only important espadas in terms of plot. Yet Kubo gave a back story for pretty much all of them and even some of their useless fraccion. Same with the recently completed arc. Only Ginjo and Tsukishima were important enemies yet everybody received a back story at the cost of glossing over Ginjo's and Tsukishima's back stories, which should have been fleshed out more. Ichigo surpassed the vice-captains roughly 400 chapters ago. They're pretty much useless in terms of power levels. In terms of emotional connection to the main character and the plot, only Rukia and Renji are important. Yet Kubo still continuously gives screen time to many of them. | ||

Look at the new guys who just showed up to declare war on the Gotei 13. They're literally figures with black faces and a tiny black strip across their chest. They don't even look remotely cool or detailed. And they're all standing stiff as wooden figurines. It's just blargh! Lol yeah see, the guy right above me has the right idea. Such awful awful art for a manga as popular as Bleach. It's truly embarrassing. And it's not like he has story to make up for it. So what does it have? Bad story, bad art? What's left?! | ||
