If you've seen John Adams - also on HBO - Stephen Dillane is a stud actor. But he kind of only does "terse." Still, I like him a lot and he has the "iron-ness" of Stannis down quite well.

Ok thanks this clears up so much.

Rofl really? I did try to find out as much as possible about events leading up to Game of Thrones (Robert's Rebellion/ Greyjoy Rebellion/ Ned's siblings/ previous Targareyean rulers) without spoiling myself too much, and I thought his fingers were chopped off from past deeds.

The warlock in Qarth reminded me of The Mystery Man in David Lynch's Lost Highway. + Show Spoiler +

During roberts rebellion, he smuggled stannis food and supplies when he was under seige and unable to get out of his stronghold. So for being a smuggler, he chopped off his fingers. But for saving stannis and his people from starving to death, he made him a knight. Hence "Onion Knight" being his title.

that Arya/Tywin scene is so well done.

Just for clarification, if a bastard has no right to the throne, what the reasoning behind all the bastard killing by Cersei's orders?

Well they have no right, but at least there half Robert children over not at all. I assume it isn't unheard of in the Middle Ages for bastards to take the crown.
And I think it's Joeffrey killing them not Cersei I thought the show said, but I may have made a mistake.

Shit...after seeing that map, I understand the grim face on Davos's face when Stannis told him that he would be leading the ship assault on blackwater bay. To any attacking force that geography just looks like a total death trap. Is Stannis seriously sentencing Davos to death for down talking his witchy woman?

I really don't see the logic in Dany trying to get into Westeros. I mean, what does she have?, like 6 warriors and 3 dragons that probably for a long time won't be more threatening than puppies?, why wouldn't she just lay low and wait until her dragons are adults and just nuke the hell of anyone that opposes her?
Even if she gathers some support as a Tyrgaren, the true key to her claim are the dragons. Any of the other sides could just send 100 soldiers and finish her if she lands now.

Because she's a teenage idiot throwing tantrums every episode. Let's just hope she dies and someone less annoying gets the dragons!

It was Joffrey's orders in the show, not Cersei's. I believe that was discussed in episode 2 or 3. I assume because Cersei/Joffrey are aware that Cersei's children are all bastards as well, and they're incest bastards of the maternal line. Non-incest bastards of the paternal line would have more claim to the throne than incest bastards of the maternal line. Gendry and the rest are closer to being Baratheon's than Tommen/Myrcella/Joff.

My friend was an extra in last episode LOL. I'm so proud...

The real question is, seeing as I've only ever heard of a single person riding a certain dragon, who is gonna ride the other two dragons?
Cause Dany has to ride one...but the other two.....they would have to be ridden into battle like the old dragons, wouldn't want to think of totally loose dragon out in the world wrecking.
So ya, who has the balls other than Dany to ride a dragon?

Because when they had sex, Melisandre and Stannis, Melisandre promised him a son. That's why I don't think that Stannis had this planned but then the scene where the hand of Stannis, can't remember his name, took Melisandre to that cave doesn't make alot of sense. Or Melisandre asked to be escorted by the hand of Stannis because he didn't trust Melisandre. For me this is a big scheme from Melisandre where Stannis has nothing to do with it and took it as it came. I don't agree. You forget the convo at the end between Cat and Brienne. They said the shadow looked like Stannis. Chances are that it was a part of his soul unleashed upon Renly. There is your extreme cost and why it can't be used whenever. Pretty sure it was only Brienne that said the shadow looked like Stannis. And considering how much of a rage she was in, she could've just saw what she wanted to see in that instance. You should rewatch the episode and get a better look at the shadow then. I don't see any resemblance personally. Maybe the quality isn't good enough or something.

I've thought about that as well and my best bet is Bran. I mean he will be in a suitable age by the time Daenerys comes over and her dragons are actually of proper size, plus the weird dreams he has about flying? Dunno, it seems plausible.

I mean she is a white-haired individual who hails from a far-away land and has a strange affinity for mythical creatures, and she is bearing gifts to all of the seven kingdoms. By gifts I mean fire and death.

god I hope the dragon chick dies, so damn annoying, have to cringe thru her scenes.

Well, she has two BloodRIDERS left, after one (Rakharo) died because the actor had other obligations, right?

I'm sure she will learn. We were all that stupid at her age (I think she is "supposed" to be 14-15 at this point). I'm pretty sure if she continues her course she will either a) die a horrible horrible death or b) become a war hardened warrior queen with countless legions of fanatically faithful warriors at her back, and 3 dragons to boot. She is basically being thrown into a world with a goal and no direction and she is forced to find a way. As she matures and learns, it will make her stronger. Or....you know....the horrible horrible death thing.
