Really happy with the casting, especially Brienne now that she did more this episode. So glad they didn't just make her some pretty girl. And I'm going to catch a lot of flak for this... but doesn anybody else absolutely HATE Daenerys? She may be nicer than her brother, but her obsession of reclaiming what is "rightfully hers by blood" is honestly starting to get to his level. | ||

Now that we're halfway through the season I feel like the gears are really turning and there's lots of possibilities ahead, (everything above is speculation) I'm looking forward to seeing how incredibly wrong I am come every Sunday. #1 thing I was left wondering is what the Raven means. That scene really got me wondering. Obviously its nothing good. We shall see. Goes without saying, if you have read the book, don't correct me or answer any of my questions/predictions. Should go without saying but these are all my musings and they should remain as such, as should everyone else's thoughts. To you book readers: as we build towards the climax of this season, please be considerate towards those of us who haven't read. Looking forward to next week already! | ||

I remember when I first read the books I didn't like her that much, but its been a while since I have, and the show is forcing her to slowly grow on me. But I agree, whenever she mentions the throne is rightfully hers I just shake my head. I mean, the Targaryen's weren't native to Westeros, they conquered it. So if someone overthrows them, they're just as entitled to the throne as Daeny is. | ||

I think it might be the actress. She seems... petulant with the way she goes about it. Her portrayal is different in the book, but you'll just have to read it! | ||

Scenes with tyrion and the wildfire were well done. All of Arya's scenes... goosebumps and nerdchills galore I really like how Bran has turned into the "lord of winterfell" and is now making his own decisions and not just relying on Maester Luwin to do everything for him. Dany's storyline is great too, although I'm not a really big fan of the dynamic going on with her handmaiden's. Dany's story in Qarth is interesting enough without throwing in the distraction of two of Dany's handmaiden's disagreeing about whether or not Dany should be "Qartheen" or "Dothraki" overall, total awesomeness | ||

And based on what we saw this episode, Stannis ain't gonna fuck her for a while yet. It may have something to do with how she believes Stannis is truly her god's chosen one. So it's not like she can go making shadow babies to kill off the rest of the kings. We haven't seen her after the birth, nor what was required (other than sex). | ||

I thought the issue at hand in that scene, and in pretty much the entire episode was whether she would take the road of a princess, marry into some wealth and try to ride that to the Iron Throne, but along the way give up her true power to the man she wed, or if she would go her own way and do it alone, which is pretty much necessary if she is going to get what she truly wants. Because if she weds people will no longer be following her, they will be following her Lord, or her Lord's money, or something else. edit: I think we're getting at the same issue, just that simplifying it down to Qartheen or Dothraki is to skip past the point of it the way I interpreted her scenes. | ||

Melisandre has seemed like a lot of things this season, a seductress, a witch, a leader of men, a charismatic holy woman, but all the time I never once got the sense that she is honorable. Her words to Stannis are not like those of say Sir Jorah, not ones of true belief and total devotion. At least that's the way I see it. At this point I'm completely behind Davos in that this woman's prophecy that Stannis is the Lord of Light is total bs. He is a tool to her ascent to a place of power, a place where she could possibly convert Westros to her faith, and in turn become one of the most powerful political players in the region. I feel like Stannis, though a virtuous man almost to a fault in all other things has let temptation get the better of him, and he's all but doomed. | ||

I agree that the whole idea of proposed marriage to Xaro is playing a role, but the scene that was on my mind specifically was when the handmaiden who taught her how to have sex was like "this is such a beautiful gown" (paraphrasing) and then the other, tan one (sorry I can't remember their names) said "she is a Khaleesi!" and got all huffy, and then conceded and said in a sad tone "it's a pretty gown, you should wear it." Perhaps I'm reading too much into it but I got the distinct impression there was a riff arasing in the handmaidens about Dany accepting Qartheen culture over the Dothraki culture. | ||
