2. Peter dinklage earned the shit out of that emmy. Stole every scene he was in except the one with Tywin Lannister, and he was supposed to be cowed in that scene and hit it perfectly. Also won me five bucks with a friend who thought it'd be the guy from Mad Men. april

I dunno...it seemed off putting when i'd consider showing it to someone who never read books. Felt the same way. It's a bit cheesy, really. Luckily its only a few minutes long. By the time they start talking about them again, it just doesnt feel cheesy. In fact its sorta awesome.

Yes, but the families are not ordered alphabetically either. Umber is before Baratheon. Unless .. the Westeros alphabet is ordered differently.

They're losing any advertising momentum they have gained with season 1. Should i read the books?

WARNING: imagine a teaser with ZERO content. this teaser has even less + Show Spoiler [hardly worth posting] + would be cool to get a glimpse of one of the new characters but whatever... it's so far off from premiering, once they're in post-production the trailers will come out quickly

This is pretty much the norm with hbo shows...theres always a year or close to it between seasons for their shows. And the books are awesome so yes you should read them.

And the books are awesome so yes you should read them. This show in particular takes a long time to film because most of it is filmed on location, now in three different countries. They started over two months ago, and have filmed in both North Ireland and Croatia, but are far from done. Dinklage got to Croatia just a week ago. Their filming in Iceland will probably not be before November/December. Then there is a lot of post production to do (virtually all the big castles are really just one tower they filmed in front of, then added the rest with cgi. The same with the bigger crowds.)
