Even though there are 19 castles, when a castle is deserted its gate is completely sealed off and is no easier to get through than any other section of hte wall (if not harder). He could have simply come back from the scouting as normal, and then left the castle afterwards. | ||

At the curret discussion: I was under the impression that the Nightwatch learnt about the deserter only after he was caught and beheaded by the Starks. | ||

Fantastic little video that existed long ago, and don't know if it's been posted here before. I thought it was brilliant, and wish to share. I'm not a person who watches movies, or even youtube videos more than once, but I really had to watch this at least twice (not including the 3rd time just now). | ||

That's awesome. So I just recently finished the third book... People are always wearing cloaks of their house colours, or dublets with their sigils painted on them, or wearing armor of their house colours... I dunno, I guess its not really big, just realized that it wasn't really incorperated into the show much. Maybe cloaks don't look as cool as I imagine they would. | ||

I think you should make a difference between cloaks worn for festivals and the like and cloaks worn for travel. | ||
