This episode was very cool, but you can't deny it's full fan service mode at this point lol
But damn, I was hoping for the dragon to take a way bigger hit than that. Like I thought the siege arrow would go straight throught its throat at first. I'm a bit skeptical that such a big siege machine can be weilded by one man also.
Anyhow, it's not exactly a first, and I think the Battlke of the Bastard did it better, but they show pretty well the horror of battle, and the dragon + the dothraki show such a savage and inhuman face of all of it. You really understand why Draenerys father end up looking Mad.
Btw, you guys being on the " I hope the dragon is fine " side is insane to me. Those things are monsters,

I like how they conveyed Tyrions emotions during the Lanister slaughter.

But yeah they portrayed the power of the dragons and the Dothraki fighting pretty well. I felt sorry for the Lannister soldiers being burned to crisps like that with nothing they could do. And then that Dothraki has the gall to mock them in front of Tyrion...

Oh, I'm very casual about that stuff, who was the one that had dragons long ago ?

It was again a decent episode, the battle was satisfying to watch imo simply because you have two parties fight each other you kinda care for (one side Jaime and Bronn, the other Dany with some Tyrion "leave idiot") I think that worked pretty well, the dragons clearly are a force to be reckoned with, great! The cave paintings felt a bit weird to me tbh, but hey i guess it's ok. All the Stark interactions were fine and them simply moving together through winterfell was somehow a bit emotional (moreso than the direct dialogue :>)
What kinda annoys me though is that Dany doesn't wear any armor, they even talked about her being an easy target like that. Cmon it's kinda stupid :/ We surely would understand that it's Dany if she was i some Targaryen armor. But yeah overall good episode i think, 7/10

Other Targaryen before her father. They ruled Westeros for about 280 years. Not quite sure atm when the last dragons were a thing though, there were Targaryen succession wars where a lot of dragons died iirc.

Oh, I'm very casual about that stuff, who was the one that had dragons long ago ? 300 years ago a Targaryen (Aegon) conquered Westeros with them. They had dragons for some more generations, lost many in a civil war (the Dance of the Dragons), then they became increasingly smaller and last one died like 150 years ago.

Bran going all Spiderman 3 on us. Not sure why you can't be the three eyed raven and also normal.

So after all is said and done does Dany get to hold Casterly Rock, and this means Cersei is relegated to basically Kings Landing?
I'm trying to remember but I thought the plan was to come back and force out the band they let take the castle.

I liked the Stark reunion. They all changed so much that they don't really know each other any more. It's certainly not the happy family reunion they had in mind
I didn't like Arya's fight with Brienne. She's a kid, she's small, and I don't think she should be that good with a sword (last time she trained was with Syrio in King's Landing) and now she's beating Brienne... meh. She's like the perfect assassin after what she did at the Twins, and now can fight the best too
the drawings in that cave, how convenient lol
Fight was OK; I think the charge alone should have been enough to get the win, the Dothraki army seemed to be much larger. But I really like it when we followed Bronn in the chaos of the battle.
I don't think Jaime is dead, but with his armour, he probably can't swim at all and will need more help from Bronn.

For all the things you can complain about, the sight of a dragon flying low over a charging dothraki horde is glorious

In the words of Robert Baratheon "Only a fool would meet the Dothraki horde in a open field"!

I really like how this episode had the first battle to show some actual battle tactics. Daenerys isn't using her dragon to "murder everyone", she just makes a hole in the pikemen line for the cavalry to break through and then focuses her fire (pun!) entirely on the objectives. This is remarkably efficient and smart, especially when compared to the ridiculousness of Stannis' defeat or the battle of the bastards.
|
That said, if she had aimed Drogon like 20 feet to the left, he'd have roasted pretty much the entire Lannister line.
|
Very nice episode imo, Dragons are too imba. However they do have a weakness as seen from the arrow piercing the dragon's armour. I think it's gonna be fine though and make Dany more cautious about using them in battle. If you think about it they are actually quite easy to aim at since they're so big.

That was actually the one thing which bothered me a bit, so they have one of these scorpians to fight dragons? Were others destroyed? I mean cmon one is basically nothing, you would never ever hit the dragon
|
So now, they took the red keep, they burn the white walkers and Dany marries with her cousin. Plz do not ban me for spoilers because this is just some basic suppositions but clearly, dragons are stupids and we all know it would end up with the two marriying. I hope I am wrong tho.

They only engaged the rear lines of the Lannister army from what I understood, so it doesn't seem inplausible that most of the bolt throwers where elsewhere (also we don't know how many the Lannister produced so far, and how many they want to keep at King's Landing). They went to siege the Tyrell's castle after all, and if you are engaged (like it happened) by surprise in an open field, they are not so effective (ok Bronn was very quick at working with it).
I noticed (again) the weird behavior of Varys when talking to Missandae.. do you think there may be some twists with her in the future? Someone suggested (in the previous pages) that she may be a spy for Cersei, but I don't know if that convinces me.. what do you think?
|
You make good points, it's just that the first time they show us that the dragon can be injured with it, aka it can be effective it's just one of these firing. That's a bit silly. But yeah it's not the biggest of deals. I doubt it personally because there would literally be 0 buildup for that. Like if she is Cersei's spy then the show never even hinted at it. So no makes no sense imo.
|
Missandae owns everything to Dany and was freed before Cersei's rise to power was even a remote possibility. Her being a spy makes 0 sense.
