Maybe, I'm cynical but I'm not expecting GRRM to actually finish the books (or if he does, not as planned).
He just has so much ground to cover right now with some of the new plots he's opened up (Euron, Citadel / Marwyn / Jaqen - I don't even know if this is going to be one or two side-plots, ect). Add some of his old statements about multiple pretenders winning the Iron Throne and how is there going to be time for all that? Given it took him years to resolve joining 3 plot lines at Mereen - which actually isn't done yet now that I think about it - I don't see him being able to do that in his planned 2-3 books.
So that either means more books, which I can't honestly see him completing or he'll have to prune some of the planned twists and turns.

Eh, we've had some pieces.
I imagine the white walkers will assault the wall this season, and possibly a "final battle" in the last season. Should see a lot of them now

I think it looks awesome and can't wait for this season to start! Hard to believe that on a normal season we'd be half way through or a little over by now.

I mean they have to show the battles in a trailer right  Also it's getting close to the finish line so ofc there will be lots of battles as well.
But yeah i hope there will also be great dialogue, great character development and great, natural plot development on top of that.
The trailer looks fine, i am kinda excited. (and yes i will still nitpick anything as soon as the episodes are out )

Great trailer, lots of interesting information (Jon vs Balish bring it on!), I just couldn't decipher what was Melisandre overlooking, I suppose Dragonstone but not too sure.

This trailer shows much less details about season overall in comparison to s6 trailer which is a good sign imo
And hoping there will be less plot holes like last season Dorn

It looked like the same staircase Dany was ascending (probs Dragonstone) and I'm guessing it was there to get us hyped for Dany/Meli meeting.

Weird that the trailer doesn't show any ice zombies. I guess they want to end most of the political subplots before moving to the final war between blue magic stuff and red magic stuff.

Is this the last season or is there another? Just trying to judge how many deaths to expect.

Considering the abbreviated seasons remaining, I hope they start the ice zombies story line this year.

GoT (ASoIaF) shows a very bleak picture of humanity. I think the overarching concept is meant to be: people in power are too preoccupied with their petty game of thrones to realize their civilization is getting wiped out. So I think the political subplots will continue until very late into the overall plot.
