I don't know how honest Oberyn is being, but it seems to be a lot more open place, i.e. peasants don't get shat on as much, and not as much backstabbing and instability as say, the deadly decadent court of King's Landing. | ||

Dorne is mostly a desert though. Huge swaths of it are completely uninhabitable.
