I was spoilered to Joffrey dying so I knew this was eventually going to come, but near the fucking end of the season. Not the god damn second episode, during the fucking wedding. I mean theres no way for Tyrion to be blamed for his death. Who knew he was going to be forced to be cup bearer and give him the cup that poisons him, it was Margery's cup anyway he grabbed at I believe.

It's gotta be the grandma, Sansa (she finally got some gump), Tywin, or Cersei who did it.

So I doubt it was cersei as he was her son and she still loves him even though he's a dick.

I think it might be the grandma or that one dude (the new gay/bisexual guy who said the lanisters aren't the only ones who pay their debts).

I doubt sansa no way in hell she'd have the guts for that and I don't see how she could have either xD.

Yeah, no way it was Cersei, she's not that good at acting ;p If it was Sansa that would go against everything. I feel like it has to be someone who was up close, and there were a lot of shots of the Grandma. She seems very devious too.

It could be Tywin, but I think Tywin has a lot of family pride, even though they are a bunch of idiots a lot of the time. I mean I dunno, maybe Tywin thinks it'll be easier to rule with the other son because he will be more relaxed? Maybe he doesn't trust the Tyrell's. Going to be a good next episode!

Re-watch the scene when Lady Olenna talks to Sansa. It looks like she grabs something off her necklace.

Edit: Just watched it again and there is clearly a pearl of some sort missing at the end of it.

Interesting!
So the idea is that Sansa was carrying the poison and grandma comes over to pick it up?
However, if you watch the scene before the pie comes, Margaery is putting the glass back on the king's table.
Olenna Tyrellis is sitting on a separate table like 3m away from the glass.
There's no way she could have put the poison in the glass without anyone noticing.

To add to that, why on earth would Sansa provide the poison and why would they exchange it in the most dangerous situation possible?

Sansa was wearing the necklace the former-knight/jester gave her in the last episode when he followed her. The one she promised not to take off or whatever. The jester is also the guy who tells her if she wants to live she should come with him. So she was used as a weapons delivery system.

Why would anyone do something contrived and complicated like this, when you can just bring the poison yourself instead?

Hard to say. He did drink the wine last, but you can't draw a conclusion from that because he drank that same wine moments earlier. And it's hard to believe for poison to act that fast. But poisoning the cake is probably risky because I assume the cake is meant to be eaten by multiple people.

I still can't see why she'd want to poison Joffrey though.

This was such a good episode, the ending when that old lady Tyrell talks about wedding murders etc. and the follow up lol.

I don't get it tho, the cake couldn't be there's multiple people taking it. From what could be seen didn't Tyrion drink from the same wine bottle moments ago? Like it was at his table, pretty weird.

Also that part when the king's fool comes and asks Sansa to come with him just before Joffrey dies, what's that about? Seemed really odd, maybe he knew what's gonna happen or did he just want to escort her because she really looked uncomfortable?

No one is talking about just how broken Theon has become. Poor guy.

By the way, I don't remember, does Bran know of his brother's demise?

I don't believe so. It's hard to imagine that he could, he hasn't been in touch with much since he began his journey with the Reed kids. The sack of Winterfell happened before Robb Stark died, and that would have been the last time when he could have heard about it.

So Jack Gleeson has retired, according to some dubious article linked on his wikipedia page; apparently he has already hinted this before. Would be a pity for the viewers, but I think it's not a bad decision for him.

Let's sum up the possibilities:

a) Killed by wine poisoning
The only one that could have done that is Sansa, since she clearly holds her hand over the goblet. Lady Olenna is sitting too far away from the goblet to do it without being seen. Sansa also would have a good motive, since Geoffrey killed her father and she was the one supposed to be married to Geoffrey. This marriage would have been a nice opportunity for her revenge.

b) Killed by cake poisoning
Obviously anyone could have poisoned the cake. The person would have known that only the king is allowed to take the first bite. Given that Cersei made sure that the cake is not given to the poor, she is suspect to have known of the poisoning. And since Margaery made the announcement to give the leftovers to the poor, we can assume that she didn't know of the poisoning. However, the current situation doesn't really help Cersei since Margaery would still be Queen Regent. So I guess the idea was to murder both the king and the queen??

c) Killed by bird contamination of the cake
A random self poisoning is a possibility, given how fast Geoffrey chokes, it is however rather unlikely. Also, it would probably not be in line with the title of the series (Game of Thrones).

Bleh, I was hoping for something more personal. Like Rob Stark's white walker corpse playing bitesies with King Joff.

Who becomes King now with no heir? Tywin?

Yeah, he said he didn't really enjoy the fame and the whole "culture" around on-screen acting etc. What a performance tho and a hell of a way to go out. Maybe he will do plays sometimes!

I also think he would have suffered a lot in future roles because he would forever be Joffrey in peoples eyes lol.

About the wine poisoning, when Tyrion hands Joffrey the wine he drinks from it, then gives it to Margaery. Margaery puts it on a table but is out of the screen, then when Tyrion gives it again, he drinks 2 sips and then chokes. So maybe it was Margaery?

That's a shame, perhaps one of the best actors in the whole show. Which is quite hard to say as there's so many good ones.

I'm also pretty sure Cersei would be apathetic whether the poisoned cake is fed to the hounds or the poor.

There are a lot of suspects. The Dornish prince, the Fool or any one of the servants or Joffrey haters (most of the kingdom). Sansa's the prime suspect for handling the cup, her past and the midget wolf humping. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if she had some poison as a precautionary (suicide) measure. There's also the Lord of Light to consider with those blood leeches from last season. Two down already but he didn't act directly with Rob so it's unlikely here.

It is a possibility that Margaery poisoned the wine.
However, it wouldn't have gone unseen.
