If you liked Watchmen, but were like "This would be better if were not so cynical about human nature and had a low key, yet aggressive humanity to it."

Marvel's Cloak & Dagger

A few days ago I didn't even know this series existed. Right now it's easily one of my favorite MCU shows (if not one of the favorite overall). For once we're given a lot of character development and depth. Some real struggles and pretty good story. One of the best things about this show is that we don't really know any more than the characters themselves so it's engaging all the way through. There are no "Look under the carpet! That's where the bad guy left something in previous scene!" moments since all the information we have is the same information characters possess.

I can seriously recommend it to anyone, not just comic book fans since there's very little superhero stuff in there anyway in traditional sense. The series is also really weird (but cool weird) at times and this can be an additional selling point for some - it definitely was for me, I love shows like American Gods and Hannibal with their trippy scenes.

The OA season 2

I totally get why alot of people hated season 1. This time they turned the surreal up to 100. Its almost Lynch-like at times. Its still melancholy and beautiful, as well as being packed with weird new age spiritual woo woo, but its also filling a gap in the market for ambiguous, mythical tv.

Its not for everyone but its worth a watch if you're bored of the same old action/detective bullshit.

There's also a little dig at all the people who complained about the ending of season 1 which amused me.

I'm genuinely gripped by this.
+ Show Spoiler +

I just finished it and the ending is fucking weird again haha. I loved this though. Somehow they were able to do things that were simultaneously ridiculous, awesome, laughable, stupid and profound. wtf lol

Norsemen on Netflix.

It's like a Norse version of Monty Python. Extremely hilarious and surprisingly brutal at times.

Columbo - Season 2

The best episode has the Prez/GM of a Pro Football team murder the playboy, philandering owner of the team.

I really enjoy The Magicians on SyFy

I binge watched the first 3 seasons and now have to wait weekly for each season 4 episode. It is painful to have to wait!

The show is set up in such a way that each character can really show off their acting chops. I'm totally in love with Eliot! Actually, with all of them. I can't get enough. It is full of Magic, syfy, great music and boundary pushing complexities!

It gave me my theme song for this year!

I think its a super interesting season moreso than the first. He realizes hes created monsters and hes losing control of them to the man who created him.

The first season had some killer moments. The way it dealt with bullies and the phycological damage that it manifests in people spoke a lot of truth in it.

The first season started out really good but they kinda forgot to build character arcs for many characters and had to rush this in the last 2-3 episodes. Imho that dragged it down pretty hard.

I don't think so. A lot of that middle part was the subtly of everyone's shift between being the bullied until they become the bullies. The cafeteria fight is incredible from so many angles. The intial part where he gets the courage to stand up to the bullies, His shock to being able to defend himself before knowingly and deliberately using violence and continuing to use violence until after hes brutalized multiple people hes confronted with what hes done before the roar of the crowd and the approval of the girl he likes blinds him forever. The rest of the season is him only seeing violence as the path to make things better.

But much subtler is the transformations of hawk whos scared to death of ever being buiilied again for his lip wildly overcompensates. Aisha starts with feeling that she shames her father and being bullied by girls before directly replacing one of the girls she bullied and becoming the underboss for the cobra kai.

I see what you mean, it just didn't work good enough for me.
Its quite some time since i saw it but the kids go way too suddenly from "not being bullied anymore" to full on "scumbag bullies + fighting dirty at the tournament!"
Also the Drugs are bad and we now need relationsship problems arc was also pretty cringy.

The transformation from being bullied to fighting off the bullies was imho done very well, after that everything happened way too fast to be believable for me.
And the actor that gets trained by Daniel really shouldn't act. I'm normally pretty much immune to bad acting, but this was ridiculously bad.

Lieutenant Columbo locks up another case. Our bumbling , fumbling , absent-minded detective with so many self proclaimed flaws... finally lays all his cards on the table...

Not like Watchman AT ALL.

Watched The Terror, very very good. After the series I wanted to do more research on the events. I really loved the foreshadow and inevitable transformation of the crew’s behavior. 9/10 Highly recommended.

If anyone knows another series or film similar to the story writing of this series please share.

I don't have another series to tell but I agree that TheTerror is pretty good. The acting is really nice.

Rewatched:
Justified

and
[image loading]
Banshee

recently after watching them a few years ago after they finished.

I would have rated both very high on the first run but Banshee didn't hold up so good at the second run although it has some excellent episodes.

Can recommend Justified to anyone.
Banshee maybe only if you like, mostly over the top, brutal action.
