He's been around forever, so his progression has been happening for basically the entire manga. Why isn't that enough? Why all of sudden do we have to go back to when he was a poor orphan that had to be cared for just before his inevitable defeat? because we learned literally nothing about him at all for the entire time he was in the manga
his name is Kabuto and he worships Orichimaru thats all we ever learned about him

I dont mind story, but oh for christs sake i do mind these emo "You dont know anything - i was nothing booboo" characters.

It's so we can have splash pages of him dying and looking up at the sun shining in the sky, and the ghostly image of the kind woman who gave him her glasses will appear and smile at him, and then there will be inspirational and emotional last words on a blank panel

The problem with Naruto is there is like 500 chapters to build story but they decide they can only develop a villain in a flash back 5 minutes before he dies.

I don't like how they did him, he was a flunkie, then someone who was working behind the scenes, now he's suddenly the single strongest ninja in the world for no apparent reason? I really don't care :\ well he did effectively do the fusion dance with Orochimaru and spend a long time training also "single strongest ninja"? not by a long shot hes one of the strongest but no where close to single strongest If you only take into consideration only his pvp skills that he is showing vs Itachi and Sasuke...sure not the strongest but one of the strongest. But if you look at it this way - can someone beat Kabuto + all the dead guys he controls with edo tensei? Just imagine every single guy he summoned ganking up on some poor bastard that has to defeat them all + Kabuto in the same time. Personally I can't think of anyone alive who can do that. but that doesnt make Kabuto the strongest ninja just the boss of the strongest army
it would be like saiying the Daimyo of fire is the strongest person in the series since he controls the leaf village

Guys you don't understand. Those flashbacks weren't flashbacks. That is Itachi using Izanami.

This wouldn't be a problem if the story was good lol. You seem to be in favor of this chapter, so please tell me: what did this chapter accomplish? I'll remind you that we already knew Kabuto was an orphan picked up from a war by a medical ninja. We also already knew he was alone and without purpose until Orochimaru picked him up (which is why he idolizes the guy). So tell me, what was the importance of this chapter? Granted, come next week this info may be used to convince that it was entirely necessary to the next chapter, but somehow, I doubt it goes past the "feel sympathetic for me because villains with feelings are way better characters". Now there may be some of you who say that characters need development to actually matter, and that's what happened here. But character development for the sake of character development, especially when this was pretty much already known, is not good story telling. We can even see a relatively good example a few chapters ago: Sasuke and Itachi taking down the boar. It gave us more info about their relationship and had a direct relation to what was going on (using the move they had used before).

what we dont know is how he got to Konoha, wasnt he adopted by a famous family? why did he decide to abandon Konoha? howd he start being a spy for the Akatsuki?
theres still alot of unknown about Kabuto, knowing he was adopted isnt very detailed back story

But you know it will only disappoint in the end.

Another awful chapter where nothing happens. Just get to find out more about Kabuto and surprise he is emo too just like every other character in this manga.
