i used to not mind the flashbacks but maybe this one just wasn't as satisfying or something. the ending was classically creepy in the way that orochimaru is known to be, and probably the only emotional draw was that point where it seemed like his 'mother' forgot about him, but then that all went away after oro's reveal. i can guess next week will be one final chapter of flashbacks before the fight finishes

There is a fight going on, right? I hate it when flashbacks interrupt any flow to a fight especially to this extent. Anyway, the longer the flashbacks, the more certainty he's gonna die.

Orochimaru is hands down the best villain of Naruto. The rest don't even come close. Itachi got ruined. Kisame was boring. Only Zabuza/Haku was decent.

the beginning was good, but the end felt a bit warped up, i wouldnt have minded if the flashback continued for another chaper (or 2) and gave us some decent info on why "his mom" was there, and didnt recognise him ..

ugh, this flashback no jutsu is taking longer than expected. Kabuto is definitely going to die now, once we know about his past, we grow attachment, he dies, and leaves a lasting memory on the readers.

so sad so sad, but overall, pretty boring chapter =T

I partially agree. Itachi could have been a great villain or a great hero but he's been put somewhere in between. I want a villain who is pure evil. No reason to kill. No motive. Just pure bloodlust. Kisame and kakuzu came close but still aren't really there.

Nobody cares about Kabuto. It'd be nice to just have a villain be a villain because he's a villain and not because of his traumatic childhood. Although I do see how this could help to build empathy for others.

Ya but he is the closest to bloodlust at least. The reason I am saying this is because when he talks about how his duo partner is Hidan, he says he kills off everyone else because he got pissed with them. Though not exactly bloodlust, he kills for no real reason. Sigh, one true evil is all I ask for. I really hope Sasuke gets there though I doubt it

I was wondering if she couldn't recognize him because she grew up. Or has some sort of memory erase no jutsu or has had her memory erased by orichamuru in an elaborate plan to get Kabuto as his underling.
