Other than the obvious information about Reiss bloodline can (somehow) 'manipulate' memory (from #54 and 62), my guess of linking all the presented clues would be: + Show Spoiler + Firstly we know that the human who live behind the walls are not the original human, my post that based on the information intentionally leaked by the writers on the manga cover: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/entertainment/395667-manga-shingeki-no-kyojin?page=13#255. basically there are at least 2 parties in this world, ''human original homeland' party (reiner and bertolt), 'Reiss family/human living behind walls' party and maybe one more 'neutral' party (ymir). So from #62 we can pretty much confirm that Eren's dad is the spy from the 'human original homeland' party who was sent into the walls to look for Reiss family, and he killed all of them except the Reiss father, in #62 we see it from the first person view that he fought a blonde female giant (on page 36 of #62, probably the blonde daughter among reiss's five children). That place under the church indeed must be some special place, probably something to do with Reiss bloodline can make some ritual there to stop the attack of titans (whether these titans from 'human original homeland' or not we don't know) but it was stopped by eren's dad. While Reiss family/blood is probably the 'traitor' of the 'human original homeland', they took away something powerful with them when they left the 'human original homeland', i'd guess that's the power to control titans, ie the power that eren possesses at the moment, which is why eren's dad killed and ate reiss family members and then eren got that power from eating his dad. whether the 'coordinate' is actually the power of controlling titans is still unknown either. So we have no clue why or was it eren's dad intentionally eaten by eren. was it actually some 'titan serum' to give eren the power to become tian or it was 'reiss's blood' that his dad inject into him? What if this power of controlling titans needs reiss's bloodline to be activated? and how the hell eren got back into the town after he ate his dad. if you look at page 37 the bottom right panel there is some guy from survey corp.....in which he seems to appear at #1... still many unsolved questions out there | ||

He panicked, or for some reason he thought it better to take the power for himself and went and killed the Reiss family. His gave Eren a syrum to make him a Titan. Come to think of it, if he was a shifter himself then he could have easily defended himself here. My guess is Reiss escaped and he knew he's come after Grissa, so he chose to sacrifice himself by feeding himself to Eren, hoping to hide away the power and pass it on. | ||

Wait so does this mean, a titan killed the Reiss family? Was that Eren's dad? Did Eren's dad pretty much get himself eaten to give Eren the coordinate power? | ||
