Tell the whole story, all cool, but 70 pages per movie? 3? 1h30 movies? Sorry, rather have one good old 4 hour movie like The Two Towers. I highly doubt the movies are going to be 1hr30min. Heck michael bay explosion movies are longer. LotR movies were freaking 3-4hr long. 4hours way too long for a movie imo. Rotten tomatoes says its 2hr45min. That sounds more like a LotR movie we know to love. Not sure where you're getting your bad information.

The good thing is, Peter Jackson's not doing what you say he's doing with the movies. If he was, I might not be so excited for them, either. If you've ever read the Hobbit and the LOTR, and looked through the appendices at the end of LOTR, you'll find there are some freaking awesome stories leading up to the Hobbit, as well as some cool fillers that happen between the Hobbit and LOTR. Also, while the Hobbit is going on, there are other events leading up to LOTR that happen at the same time, chronologically - but Tolkien didn't want to include those darker scenes in the middle of his children's book. The good news is, Jackson is taking some of those appendices and showing them in the movie as part of the story - because, in the context of the LOTR trilogy, they fit right in. I'm so EXCITED to see that it's not only the Hobbit that's going to be shown on the screen, but a lot of Tolkien's extra material, as well. This DEFINITELY justifies three movies, and I'm so so so looking forward to seeing all of it in 48 FPS glory :D Even if it makes my head spin, it's worth it to see the Hobbit!

He had almost all books including Silmarillion and The Book of Lost Tales. While I never got into Lost Tales I loved Silmarillion read it so many times. Not keen with 3 films for the Hobbit and not really expecting too much, but soooo looking forward for some strange reason. And first film almost 3 hours? Wow. Not decided yet it going into 3D or normal.

Dude knows how to make movies. Difference is that Lord of the Rings had 3 times the pages. Ofc it was shortend hence the "extended" and "special extended" and what not. They could so integrate things out of the book that fell short (and ofc sell the same DVD several times ^^). Really curious how it works out with the Hobbit, but imo it´s too streched out for such a book. I´ll be glad I´m wrong.
